Product Description
Jean Marie Rhall's Did You Buy the American Dream or Does It Own You?: A Realistic Look At Living a Debt Free Lifestyle is a fast-paced and no-nonsense guide that explains how Americans fall victims to debt, the emotional problems that this causes, and how anyone can reduce and eventually eliminate their debt -- thereby freeing themselves of the number one source of emotional stress, divorce, home foreclosure, and other modern-day problems.

About the Author
Jean Rhall has been jotting down her thoughts and feelings most of her life, so seems a natural for now writing and publishing her works. Based on Jean's own experiences both first hand and as a witness to the pitfalls and joys of life, she now shares her experiences and the insight she learned from her journey.

Being the child of divorced parents she knows first hand how divorce devastates young children and turns their lives upside down. In her first book "Don't Get Divorced before You Get Married" she focuses on the importance of knowing one another completely before you get married, and in keeping the open communication alive in your relationship, so as to reduce the 50-50 odds of divorce.

While having watched numerous family members bogged down and unhappy by their debt and almost falling victim to the interest trap of credit cards herself, Jean empowered herself to become debt-free and shares her experience here in her second book "Did You Buy the American Dream or Does it Own You?" Step by step explaining how you too can empower yourself with some simple changes, of thinking and behaviors, to regain your financial freedom from credit worries, thereby freeing you from the unhappiness and stress that become such a big part of a debt filled lifestyle.

In this Jean's newest book "Reflections of an Open Mind's Eye" she shares some of her favorite verses on life, love and nature. This Eclectic collection of prose, verse and poetry, taken from Jean's own favorites amongst her writings, is a thought provoking collection of fast paced and relaxing verses touching on many genres, with simplistic timeless themes, that stir the senses.

Jean resides in New York and is currently working on her next book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never trust a review by the author, June 17, 2008
I thought $10.99 was a little steep for a book that is only 64 pages, but the title was interesting so I bought it anyways.

Turns out it's not 64 pages... total text is about 37 pages. And it reads like a middle school essay. To be fair I did read the entire book (in less than an hour) and I gained nothing from it. The other books by the author are poetry, and I see nothing that makes her any kind of an expert on money matters.

If you like to read books with LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS and excessive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! exclamation points then maybe this is your thing, but I think you can just read comic books for that.

Notice the reviews are by the Author and friend. I'm sorry for spoiling your 5-star review, but I want to give people a heads up before they spend $10.99 more than they should on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and Empowering, May 15, 2007
Did You Buy The American Dream or Does it Own You is a no-nonsense guide to reducing one's financial debt and the resultant unhappiness. The advice takes you to a new level of understanding yourself and the behaviors that keep you trapped in perpetual debt and unhappiness. The simple steps to becoming debt free EMPOWER you to a new level of thinking and of being in control. Recommended reading to anyone ready to break free of their unhappy debt filled lifestyle. A low cost alternative to a Life Coach.

The simplicity of this book with its straight forward and to the point format may be deceiving at first but as you find yourself thinking of the ideas set forth in the book, and actually find yourself subconciously practicing the techniques you realize the book is so much more than it seems, and you too, are on your way to a happier debt free lifestyle.
