5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Jazz/Funk Album to come along in years
Top notch musicianship and every single song on this CD is a keeper......there is no filler to this album and you wont catch yourself skipping over any of the songs. It's all top of the line jazz/funk.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some real good, some eh...
This is one of those CDs where you have to be in the right frame of mind prior to popping it in the CD player. I enjoy some songs very much but want to skip over others. Definitely a niche CD.

This is the best soul/funk cd I've heard in my life. All the musicians are brilliant and have all space to do his best.

Just found this album by accident recently and sorry I did't hear it sooner. Joe Sample gets away from smooth jazz and back to his Crusaders roots with a brassier horn section courtesy of Oscar Brashear and company. Too bad he didn't follow it up... but a welcome reminder of what once was. For a similar funk sound, check out new LA band Breakestra or the new Cold Blood CD "Transfusion".

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, October 8, 2005
This review is from: Did You Feel That (Audio CD)
Joe Sample is my all time favorite Jazz Piano Player.I love the Crusaders Music big time.Joe Sample has a Signature sound that has always moved me.this Album starts out banging then it has a few tracks I can take or leave.but Joe's Signature tone&chord Structuring is timeless.I bought this tape a long time ago&was Grooving to it recently.I tend to favor His 70's solo Projects&Of course the Crusaders work He did when Wayne Henderson was with the crew.Stewart Levine who Produced the Classic 70's Crusaders Albums is on board here."Mystery child" is my Joint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Jams, August 5, 2011
This review is from: Did You Feel That (Audio CD)
If you are looking for Smooth Jazz, this ain't the place. This is some of the best jazz/r&b put together on one cd in many a year. I bought this cd way back in 1995. I have it on all my mp3s. Each song cooks. If you like your music jammin' with a little funk, this is the album to get. All tracks make me wanna dance. BUY IT!!!

...have know since it's birth it NEEDS to be played over and over again,5-6 x's w/ the volume cranked! Joe is HOTTEST but horn jammers are TOPS ALSO!! Be total gasser IF the band included Manu Dibango!!Check out his 'Wakafrika' piece....complete soul music that one is!!Anyway- just eventually get everything of Joe's you can. He's done a LOT more than just record and write tunes. How many grammy's,Joe?
