Book Description

When a human girl Fei stumbles into Inside World, a world which is inside of outside, and upside of downside, she finds herself charged with a crime she did not commit, alongside the young witch Wicki Wickedspell. Will they be presumed guilty until proven innocent? How will they escape? Will the King realize in time that Fei has been the only one brave enough to tell him the truth? All will be revealed in this witty and delightful short story, which explores and exposes the flaws and foibles of humans and fairy-tale characters alike.
"Clever and concise...thought and laughter provoking!"

“Aha! So you would have helped them!” the fork declared, his wig falling sideways on one prong. Pushing up his wig with a shaky finger, he proclaimed, “You are as guilty as that wicked witch! You may not be there that night, but you sympathize with them. Sympathizers are simply perpetrators in waiting. You are just waiting for the chance to spring into action, to help your sympathizing cause! Very well, both of you shall be tried together for aiding and abetting that no-good, criminal dish!”

“This is absurd! She had nothing to do with…” Wicki was straining over the edge of the wooden dock, impudently shaking her fist at the judge. “You know why the spoon had to run away! If you hadn't forced her to marry you, she wouldn't have had to run away. You drove...”

“Silence! Silence! How dare you...” The fork was quivering with barely suppressed rage. “A Silverware—running away with a common dish! She has brought shame and dishonor to Silverwares all over the world. The dish will be stoned to smithereens for kidnapping and treason!”

A collective gasp rose from the gallery.

Glinting maliciously, the fork banged the gavel resoundingly and boomed, “All this ruckus is delaying the trial proper. Pipe down or I’ll have you all thrown into jail. Call the first witness. The cow!”

...... ......

“Everyone always agreed with everything I said.”

“Even when you were wrong?”

“Even when I...” the King sputtered before straightening up. “I am never wrong!” he huffed.

“Never, Your Majesty? Everyone gets something wrong sometimes,” Fei said evenly.

The King puffed out his chest. “I...I am the King, and the King...the King is never...”

“If you are never wrong, then how can you ever be right?”
