P Diddy & Bad Boy Records Present: We Invented the Remix

The Remix...Oh, the fabled remix.

What true talent must it take to steal a little from someone and little from someone else...and walk (strut) with pride for giving the old-schooler's their "props". If P-Diddy wants to take credit for the lack of originality in music the last few years, let him! Pop music is already filled (and has been filled) with dancers and bums yelling, "remix" and stinking up the airwaves. Maybe it's the [people] out there starving for anything radio stations play, but it's who's feeding them which is truly to blame.

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is the master of the remix true, but he definetly didn't invent it. This album is missing a great deal of the infamous remixes that Diddy has recorded over the years, including a number one hit (Mariah Carey's "Honey" remix), current radio hits ("Lights Camera Action"), classics ("Only You") and others that he recorded with artists like MC Lyte, Gina Thompson, Total, Dream and so forth, that put them on the map. Though some of these are old school songs, It would be great to hear them again, and they wouldn't be out of place on an album with some old school Biggie.

The album's best track is easily "Special Delivery", where G-Dep, Ghostface Killah, Keith Murray & Craig Mack invent themselves a hip hop classic, because they absolutley KILL this track. P. Diddy's "I Need a Girl Part 2" is hot as all hell, and is easily better then the original radio hit. Faith Evans "You Gets No Love" is fantastic and so is "Thats Crazy", Black Rob's answer to "Whoa".

The album may have these smashes, but the rest of the album lacks. The highly over played "I Need A Girl Part 1" is on here (a track I never liked), and the same can be said for the highly out of place "Unfoolish" by Ashanti. The 112 remixes on the album are conjoined, which is terrible because "Dance With Me" is one of the best remixes of all time and its only Sigel's verse and then cuts immediatley into "Peaches and Cream". Cheri Dennis' track "So Complete" doesn't change at all except a verse from Diddy, "No More Drama" is a discrace to the tear jerking original & "Bad Boy For Life" is just plain stupid.

This album is missing the remix of "Lets Get It" with the new Bad Boy rappers, anything by Total, Ma$e, Dream, and Shyne, yet includes remixes by non-Bad Boy artists like Ashanti & Mary J. Blige. I was expecting a little bit more out of this album, but hopefully the second edition will be better. Diddy is one [heck] of a remix master, but this album does little to nothing to reflect that.

There used to be a time when rap was not synonymous with the likes of Hillary Duff. No longer is that true, if you call this rap. Puff wasn't that good to begin with, and I never owned any of his cds but I knew of him...anyway, by the time I heard he changed his name to PDiddy, I about laughed until I pissed myself.

OK,I'll give Diddy his props,he did RE-INVENT the remix but this
scatterdash remix compliation isn't the correct display for Diddy's superior remixes.

Some of the hot ones on here are "Special Delivery" and "You Gets No Love" but the [bad] Ashanti remix along with the listless ones that Diddy re-crafted in latter years don't amount to much.As do the dry,sleepy mixes of "I Need A Girl".

Where are all the classic Mary J. mixes?For Pete's sake,where are all the B.I.G. remixes!! Craig Mack? Total's "No one Else" mix? Come on now,Diddy,a guy with an ego as a big as yours should've known better!!!

P Diddy is one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all times. His first remix with Jodeci went platinum, selling 2.5 million. I expected great songs on this cd.

"Special Delivery" is one of the best songs on the cd. It brings back old Bad Boy Recording artist Craig Mack, who brings the song alive. This song has such a beat, its hard to describe.

"I Need a Girl Part 2" is much better than Part 1. This is dancible, too. P. Diddy and Loon's rap on it, while Genuwine and Mario Winans croon makes for a good song.

"Bad Boy for Life Remix" is such a funny song. They completely changed everything, and Busta Rhymes is screamin in the back round. It is strange, though, and hard on the ears. You can hear the music to the original song in the backround. It's a decent song.

"I Need a Girl Part.1" is the quieter, more relaxing part of the song. Usher sings, while P. Diddy and Loon again rap. It's a nice, slow song.

"Unfoolish" is a great song. Ashinti has a wonderful voice, and the late great Notorious B.I.G raps nicely. The music is the same as "Foolish", the only difference is B.I.G rapping and the lyrics. This is a song for all people that love R&B and Hip-Hop.

The "Dance With Me/Peaches and Cream remix" isn't really "Dance with Me", it just has Beanie Sigel's rap from it. Ludacris makes this song awesome, starting it off with his conventional, "Ludacris, shaken not stirrrred.." This is a nice dance song too.

The "No More Drama remix" is very good. Mary and Puffy hook up again, which always makes the song great. Mary's wonderful voice leads into P. Diddy's free style. Yet another good dance song.

"So Complete" is a nice slow song. Cheri Dennis has a wonderful voice. It's a good song, but not the best on the album. Then again, most of the songs are fast paced.

"Notorious B.I.G" remix is such a good song. It has a good beat. The whistles and bells are what give it the good beat. Notorious is one of the best rappers of all time. P. Diddy raps, of course, and Lil Kim is one of the best female rappers.

"That's Crazy" is a funny, happy song, with an all-star cast of rappers. It features; Missy Elliot, G. Dep, Diddy, Mark Curry, and Snoop Dogg. After every sentence, they go,"That's Crazy". It's a good song, but not the best on the album.

"Woke Up in the Morning" is a great song. B.I.G's rap is wonderful, and it fits the song. Carl Thomas has a good voice, but the lyrics are weak.

To end it, Faith Evans does a remix of her hit, "You Gets No Love." The music is from the 80's song by Annie Lennox, "Sweet Dreams." The song is good. But most of the time, I just skip ahead on my CD player to G. Dep's rap. His rhyming style on this song go perfectly with the music. He is a very good rapper, who complements Faith's voice.

Now that you have read my review, you can decide if you like this album or not. I gave it only 4 stars, because it could've used some of his first remixes. But if you like Diddy or remixes in general, this is a must.

Man this is just a buncha old diddy songs wit new background music and new artists, sounds the same as all the original songs. Nothing great they just threw this together in probably an hour. I wouldn't suggest it.

One thing i really like about the CD is that it features the enhanced videos of "Special Delivery" remix and "I Need A Girl (Part 2)".

P. Diddy did really good with his remix album, i hope he releases vol. 2 soon.

Productions-wise, Mr. Combs has been on top of the game for the past decade. Original LPs by Mary J. Blige, Biggie, Jodeci, etc. have shown his talent, but the one thing that was different was that they were all pretty much original beats. Then came the Mase era (ya they had some hot party jams), but on the flip-side, the creativity was lost and after a while they got played as the albums like 'Ready to Die', 'What's the 411' are still being played as we speak. As for this new remix LP, Puff's lyrics kill the album. Listen to his lyrics on 'I need a girl 1', I mean come on now. The problem is that he's trying to do too much (produce and rap), like JD and it really hampers the entire package rather than if he'd just stick to producing. Best songs on the album, Ashanti remix is hot, only because they mixed in Biggie, Mary J. Blige, and the surprise of the album, Peaches'n'Cream even though I don't like 112. The beat is ill. For you real hip hop fans, look out for Sound Bombing III from Rawkus Records (Mos Def, Talib, Q-Tip, Pharoah), June 4.

No please dont believe that P Diddy invented the remix. Remixing first appeared in Jamaica in the 1960s, through King Tubby and Lee Perry, although it is difficult to pin down the actual creator, it definitely wasnt P. Diddy. The title alone is a bit much when he states that. I was dissappointed that P Diddy's best remix wasnt featured. Method Man and Mary J Blige "Youre All I Need". That is a good one. I dont think he will ever be able to out do it.

I USE TO LIKE P DIDDY BUT I DONT LIKE THE WAY HES CHANGED. BUT IF U LIKE HIM THEN U WOULD LIKE THIS CD.
