5.0 out of 5 stars I'm over 40 and love it!
I loved reading this book. Martha Bolton takes an inside look at the joys and reality of being over 40. I personally love being over 40. I'm thankful I found a friend to laugh with over the mishaps and adventures of this second season of my life. Want to cheer your over-40 friend up? This is the book to place in their hands!

3.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and fun!
The author's quirky sense of humor was delightful, and I felt so much better about the angsts of being a woman over age 40 after reading this book. However, I was disappointed by the overall Christian tone, which I did not expect nor want. And there isn't much here about midlife motherhood and marriage. For the BEST overall comprehensive funny book about midlife, I...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest books, August 28, 2002

I'm just about finished reading DIDN'T MY SKIN USED TO FIT. This is one of the funniest books I've read on the subject of life after 40 to date.

It is easy to see why Martha Bolton is a writer for comedians. Her humor is wonderful and really makes being over 40 sound hilarious. Her writing is right on the mark and makes those of us who fit into this category feel like we're not alone. My favorite chapter is about HMO's and the waffle iron being used for a mammogram!

There are many books written about the subject but I encourage anyone who is looking for a fun read aabout life after 40 to read this book. For me, I couldn't put it down.

What a great outlook on Life. I Love this book and can not quit laughing about it. Giving a copy to my Mother.[dont know why, I already read and told her 1/2 of it already!] I did laugh out loud while waiting on my van tires to be put on. I am sure the YOUNG GUY doing the work on it thought...that OLD lady must be reading a dirty magizine. I am not what you call a "BOOK WORM", this is the 1st book I could NOT put down. May turn into a book worm if all the aurthors books are filled with this much humor!! P.S. Not giving up my copy because as my memory fades, I may need to re-read!! Just kidding!!{I hope}...

In her usual fashion, Martha Bolton has once again done what she does best--she leaves you laughing and wanting more. A must-read for women over 40.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Your Way Through the Shock of Turning 40!, July 31, 2000

Martha Bolton's writings have always brought a chuckle from deep within my being. When fighting the duldrums, I've picked up a couple of stories that were posted on Focus on the Family by Martha Bolton and my spirits are lifted in no time. Bolton's willingness to get the reader laughing by poking fun at her own experiences is masterful.

This book is a wonderful gift to give to that friend who is about to "roll over the hill." You can help them "roll over the hill" by getting them to roll over in laughter. It doesn't matter what decade one is passing into, 40, 50, 60, the stories are timeless and ageless. We will all read ourselves into the situation that she is writing about. The descriptions she uses are hillarious. Chapter 7, "Changing With the Times," deals with the change of life-menopause--and anyone who has or is experiencing the change of life will thoroughly enjoy this one. You may even be able to laugh yourself right through that hot flash!

Bolton's chapter, "Yo Quiero No Discount," is a story about the time she was given a senior discount at a fast food restaurant at a young age of just over 40. She imagines revenge by paper-cutting the server "to a pulp with my birth certificate!" That is just one example of the humor you will encounter in this book.

If you don't have a friend to give the book to, at least get it for yourself whether you are 30, 40, 50 or older! The humor will be appreciated by anyone at any age.

Martha Bolton had me chuckling over every page and downright laughing out loud several times throughout her book. Over 40s and those who wonder what it's gonna be like will enjoy reading this from cover to cover! I swear she's lived in MY skin - maybe that's why it doesn't fit anymore! Buy it - give as Over the Hill Birthday presents!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and fun!, January 6, 2005
This review is from: Didn't My Skin Used to Fit? (Paperback)
The author's quirky sense of humor was delightful, and I felt so much better about the angsts of being a woman over age 40 after reading this book. However, I was disappointed by the overall Christian tone, which I did not expect nor want. And there isn't much here about midlife motherhood and marriage. For the BEST overall comprehensive funny book about midlife, I recommend "Parentally Insane: Insights From The Edge...of Midlife!" by Julie Donner Andersen, whose humor is much more bluntly "out there" funny, and encompasses ALL of midlife, including motherhood and marriage. Still, "Didn't My Skin Used To Fit?" is good for a giggle or two if you are really hung up on the physical ravages of aging.

I so enjoyed the book. Amusing with a twist of the authors' sense of humor. I found myseld chuckling out loud and smiling while reading this book. Some of the instances I can relate to first hand. This book is one that provides insight of how we age with humor intent.

This book is awesome! I started reading it and couldn't put it down! It is so funny, and much too true. I loved it. It should be read by every woman (and man married to a woman) between 35 and forever.
