5.0 out of 5 stars Stop Me and Buy One!
I found this to be a totally brilliant CD. If you're the sort of fan who wants the same old 70's stuff - forget it. This is a new raunchier David and personally, I can't get enough of it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the original stuff. Heck, I've been a fan since he first boarded the bus, but we've all got to move on and he's definitely going in the right direction.

DC was my idol 25 yrs ago and idley surfing the net last month, i wondered what had ever become of this heartstopper. Imagine my joy at finding him alive and still performing ! For the first time in my life I now own 3 of his CD's. I think I like Didn't you used to be" the most (out of Then and Now & Cherish)". However, on the whole, I just wish he would...

I have all of David Cassidy's albums from the 90s, and this one is my favorite. Sparsely produced, but beautiful in its execution. I recommend it to all David Cassidy fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Collaborative effort with Sue Shifrin - Get this CD !, January 29, 2000

Recorded in 1992, this CD is my favorite from the post RCA years. It comes close to the feel and mood of the "Dreams" LP (Sorry - it's such a point of Reference for me). I liked this CD from start to finish and the personal thoughts and insights perhaps reflected in the music. ("Like Father - Like Son"). A nice smooth rock feel (less disco - techno pop sounding than some others including his newest "Old Trick" - See Review). I will always prefer more Tony Romeo type love songs, but this CD satisfied that desire including the duet with Treana Morris on "I'll Never Stop Loving You". Sweet. Another high point is The First AME Church choir featured on "One True Love". (I'll admit, I was hoping for the Randy Stonehill tune of the same name here !) Side Note: For some reason, the inside picture of David reminds me so much of John Lennon ! Just me? Dan giveawaysplus@msn.com

I feel that this is David's best yet. I thoroughly enjoyed this soulful sound. Every one of the songs are excellent and interesting. I like to continously play this CD over and over. Everyone will especially like this CD, even if you are not a fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars great songs, david's best solo work, July 19, 2004

This is without a doubt David's strongest offering as a solo artist. Strongly recommended even for casual fans of Keith Partridge.

I actually prefer this to 'Old Trick...' It has more soul. I especially like the duet 'I'll Never Stop Loving You'. I liked the album when I first heard it but it has grown on me more and more as I've listened to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Cassidy, February 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Didn't You Used to Be (Audio CD)
I bought this CD on the recommendations found here. It is awesome! I am a David Cassidy fan from the 70s and am probably easily impressed, but guess what? My 17 yr old son took it away from me. He is into music of all types and this caught his ear! In fact, my husband (not particularly a Cassidy-fan but knows a lot about music) was also impressed with the quality sound. I can't imagine anyone not liking this music.

For the first time in my life I now own 3 of his CD's. I think I like Didn't you used to be" the most (out of Then and Now & Cherish)". However, on the whole, I just wish he would dump the overpowering backing vocals on any future CD's. Why can't somebody write this beautiful man some music to showcase his gorgoeus voice in the style of Daydreamer, I am a Clown and Cherish (but, again, minus the female backing vocals).

These are new songs, and it is nice to hear some new material. The lyrics in these songs are beautiful. Some of my favorite songs are "Raindrops";" I'll Never Stop Loving You", "Like Father, Like Son", and "One True Love." It is also nice to hear Sue Shifrin's work. She is very talented. David and Sue make a great team.
