Simply lovely!,

This is the most beautiful collection of German folksongs I have come across. They are truly folk songs, not Bier Fest songs. They remind me of my dear Oma and the songs she used to sing for me. I highly recommend this cd.

I was looking for something that was not a German brass band or accordion music from Oktoberfest. Not that I don't like that kind of music but I already have recordings of that festive, oom-pa-pa kind. I wanted something different but folksy. I found Die Blaue Blume and listened to some of the samples. It intrigued me so I bought it. I fell in love. This is like listening to Christmas carols or old Church hymns. I sounds like something that you would sing with your family and friends around a camp fire or in the evening around the piano in your living room. The songs are accompanied by guitar, violin, flute, and other instruments that give it a down home feel. I find it very relaxing to listen to.

Wonderful Harmony,

The voices on this CD blend really well. Not harsh like other samples of German Folk Music I had heard. Very soothing music and I love the flute accompaniment.

This was bought as a birthday gift for my sister in law who was born in Germany. She recognized most of the selections and found the arrangements charming and well done without too much of the typical oom-pa-pah.

It does not get better than this. We've used this CD forevents in a small German community in Mid Missouri. With this music wafting from our Hofgarten in the heart of town, you'd think you were in Germany. Gentle songs, gorgeous harmony and voices. Five stars. This CD gets rave reviews from whoever hears it. Now I am looking for a smiliar CD and doubt I will find one that measures up to this gem.

Die Blaue Blume is simply lovely renditions of traditional German folk songs - no jazzed up stuff - just the original beauty of the songs and music. If you are a traditionalist, you will love this CD. If you want Pop, Jazz or Rock versions of these songs, you will not be so pleased. I especially liked the creative harmonies and the way the voices blended. I'm now ordering a copy as a gift for someone else.

I've enjoyed the music greatly. Most of the songs were new to me. My only wish is that it had included a copy of the written lyrics. I buy german volcal music in part to improve my German and my ear is not good enough to in all cases catch the lyrics without being able to read them.

I have always wanted to hear some german folk music that wasn't beer drinking music, so I decided to get this cd. The singing is done with good harmony and the music itself is also good. My problem with the songs is that they all start to sound the same and the music is usually slow, which is okay for some of the songs but not most of them. Also I started to get tired with the singing after a while. It would have been better if some of the songs had a faster pace to them like a lot of other european folk music. I would say that this is a good cd for any one who likes folk music, especially german folk music. Afterall the other reviewers seemed to have liked it a lot, while I myself thought that it was just all right.

Good!,

Like a few other reviewers on here, I wanted to hear some traditional German music that wasn't A) military marches or B) Beer songs. I guess the only things Germans are known for is beer and war. Well, this is quite a breath of fresh air. Traditional German folk songs, no beer polkas. I find this cd very relaxing, and it reminds me quite a bit of Estampie, another fine German band who focus on Renaissance German melodies, which I would also recommend listening to. My only gripe is the stop/start that's in almost every song. You think the song is over, but no, it starts again and again. It wouldn't be so bad, but they do it in almost every song, and after awhile it starts to make the songs all sound the same. Doesn't detract too much from the music, though, it's still quite enjoyable.
