Book Description

May 10, 2008
Mike Moore and his partner, Keith Rimbaldi, are LAPD Homicide Investigators assigned to the "Candy Man" case. An anonymous and seemingly random killer is terrorizing the City of Los Angeles. As Moore and his partner work the case, the killer leaves the body of a young woman in a park with a note pinned to her bloody blouse that reads, "A Gift for you, Moore!" While the two Investigators struggle to make sense of this latest killing, across town Moore's wife, Chrissy, is brutally attacked! The search for the killer has now become personal for Mike! As the body count rises, Mike finds that he's becoming as cunning and savage as the killer he seeks. Fighting his own inner demons, Moore races to identify the madman before he can claim another victim in this heart-pounding crime thriller. And now the killer is heading for Chrissy's hospital room where he has come to silence her once and for all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Thriller - Real Page Turner!, August 27, 2008

This review is from: To Die For Chocolate (Paperback)
From the start, you get a real insight into the mind of a serial rapist/killer (the "Candy Man"). The first chapter draws you in and doesn't let go. The author gives you insight into each character, what makes them click, and you feel like you know them personally. When it becomes "personal" for the main character (Moore) it becomes personal to you. You feel for Moore and experience the gauntlet of feelings and emotions that overwhelm him.

After months of investigation, Moore and Rimbaldi finally begin to get clues to the killer's identity, but not before the "Candy Man" attacks Moore's wife. As the search intensifies for the killer, Moore and his partner (Rimbaldi) are reassigned to a new department under the direct control of the LAPD Chief of Police as the media hounds begin their sniffing into the case. But no matter how close Moore and his partner get to solving the case, the "Candy Man" seems to stay one step ahead. The book ends in a classic standoff, but with a real "twist".

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a "who-done-it" mystery. Mr. Nelson's extensive experience in law enforcement gives this book true believability and provides real insight into the investigative ups and downs that Detectives face day-to-day. The story is based in Los Angeles, and the author uses real street names and LAPD locations, which just added to the fun of reading this, having lived in Los Angeles most of my life. I look forward to Paul G Nelson's next work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nelson Scores a Hit!, November 30, 2008

This review is from: To Die For Chocolate (Paperback)
'To Die for Chocolate,' Paul G. Nelson's debut novel, is an engaging escapade. The reader is immediately involved as a witness to a sadistic crime committed by a serial killer. In addition, the reader follows the investigative procedures employed by the dectectives assigned to this case. The relationship between partners Mike Moore and Keith Rimbaldi illustrates the unique dynamic which exists with all good law enforcement teams. That the killer targets one of the dectective's wives makes this novel all the more engrossing.
