Still he tracks her to New Orleans and begins carving a bloody path to her door. But this time, Katherine refuses to run any farther. This time, she’ll do anything to stop the madman she once loved, even trust the sexy cop promising to keep her safe…

Detective Dane Black never lets his emotions interfere with his job, even as the Valentine Killer surfaces in New Orleans to stalk his prey. But when Dane agrees to protect the killer’s ex-fiancée, Katherine Cole, he can’t ignore the passion kindling between them. After a single unforgettable night binds them body and soul, Dane knows he won’t rest until Katherine is safe in his arms—and the Valentine Killer is dead. Dark and intensely sexy, this romantic suspense novel from USA Today bestselling author Cynthia Eden is sure to leave readers breathless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Die For Me was AMAZING! February 13, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
Die For Me was a captivating story right from the start. Katherine Cole is the Ex-fiance of a serial killer known as The Valentine Killer. She has been hiding and looking over her shoulder waiting for him to come for her again. He told her he would never let her go. Katherine was living her life in fear, afraid to feel for anyone or anything. That is until she see's the latest crime scene and recognizes the signature. It's one she'll never forget. Tired of running and tired of being afraid Katherine goes to the authorities and meets Detective Dane Black. There is something different about him, something that makes her feel alive. He lights a fire in her that she was afraid might never burn again.

This story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it. I couldn't get to the next page fast enough. Just when I was sure things were going to be okay, BAM something else went wrong. The ending was spine chilling and it's a wonder I made it through with any fingernails left. I knew something was up, every word out of Valentine's mouth made me shiver. I think it was Katherine's courage that kept me reading. After everything she had seen and everything she had gone through emotionally I wanted her to get that HEA. I will warn ya though Cynthia Eden throws in a curve ball and left me thinking NO NO NO NO that did not happen. THAT. DID. NOT. HAPPEN! I won't spoil it and tell you what it was that I did not want to happen. You'll just have to read for yourself to see if it did or not, but I promise you this story will not disappoint. It is a solid 5 cocktails for me!

I'm sorry, but even though this story started out as one hoped it would; as a crime thriller, it then started sounding like a bodice ripper romantic novel. Not believable characters. Here is a woman who was terrorized by finding out she was in love with and living with a serial killer who she walked in on while he was torturing and killing a woman who looked just like her. Then after being in witness protection far away, she discovers that he has found her. What does she do? Immediately falls in bed with the cop on the case who she can't wait to have sex with. She doesn't even know him but after a day or so, he tells her he wants sex with her and won't be gentle and she can't wait? Please. Shallow characters, two genres mixed together and neither works. This writer has great potential I think, but needs to develop real people as her characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting from this author. March 28, 2013

I have read Ms. Eden before and found some of her work enjoyable. This was not the case here. . . . It read like a bad dime store novel, and honestly I read it until the end just to see if there was anything redeemable about the book. It was a good idea for a novel, just poorly written.

2.0 out of 5 stars Enough already March 6, 2013
    By Deb

It was rough. It was basic. It was life. Really? Perhaps I've read too much of this genre. The story was too drawn out, the characters were unexciting and unbelievable and all the gratuitous sex was boring. A whiny heroine and growling detective...I'm cured.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too predictable March 8, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
The location and setting was fairly dynamic but the story was just too trite. Who would ever believe in a few short weeks you'd be sleeping with a detective and finding the love of your life after a three year hiatus? I realize this is fiction but I LIKE just a touch more reality to really enjoy a story.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Choices February 10, 2015
    By Karli
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cynthia Eden is one of the foremost authors of romantic suspense, as she aptly proves with this novel. It is tight, chilling, scorching hot, and kept me glued to my reader. All the things I look for in a book to reread and recommend.

Dane Black is a homicide detective with the NOPD. The mutilated body of a missing reporter has been found and the scene is chillingly familiar, reminiscent of a serial killer in Boston three years earlier. And reporters are already pushing against the crime scene tape, later revealing information they shouldn't have.

Katherine sees the news reports and knows she has to talk to Black, in spite of her handler's warnings. Because she has knowledge of the killer, things only a former fiance' could know. She also knows life is all about choices, she is taking hers back, and stopping the man she once thought she loved.

Copy provided by Netgalley and publisher in return for an honest review. It was so good, I also purchased a personal copy for my library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Loved it!!! February 13, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was my first Cynthia Eden book and I am completely blown away. I love the way she captured each characters thoughts and emotions. She made me fall in love with each character and the story line was so suspenseful, I couldn't put the book down! I have been so caught up in purely erotic novels that I had for gotten what it was like to read a novel with so much more to it. She made remember the awesomeness of reading a book filled with suspense, romance, twist and turns, and so much emotion!!! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves reading these types of books. I know my cousin will definitely be getting one from me because she loves them!!! You are an amazing writer Cynthia and I plan to read many more of your books!!!!
