Editorial Review

All too frequently, developers who try to incorporate multiple genres of gameplay into a single title fail miserably. Fortunately for gamers, Fox Interactive has successfully merged three distinct game styles into Die Hard Trilogy. This expansive action game faithfully follows the plots of the theatrical films--sans Bruce Willis.

The game starts off with a whimper rather than a bang, since the first game (Die Hard) is the worst of the bunch. In this action shooter sequence, you re-create John McClane's barefoot hostage rescue mission from the first film. While this game segment is fun in short doses, the run-and-gun gameplay ultimately gets repetitive.

The second sequence Die Harder is much stronger. In fact, it is one of the best light-gun games available for the PlayStation. As with other light-gun action games, you must shoot objects as they quickly move across the screen. In this part of the game, you must shoot your way through the Dulles airport. You can play this portion of the game with the basic PlayStation controller, but we highly recommend that you invest in a light gun for maximum fun.

Die Hard with a Vengeance concludes this game on a high note. This sequence consists of an incredibly fun (and bloody) driving game that takes place in a realistic city environment with traffic, pedestrians, and New York landmarks. As a whole, this collection represents one of the best values available for the PlayStation, provided you can stomach the over-the-top violence and copious bloodshed. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • 3 games in 1
  • Excellent light-gun game
  • Superb sound effects
Cons:
  • Graphics showing their age
  • Occasional slowdown in all games

Product Description

Get three games for the price of one with DIE HARD TRILOGY, which contains a game based on each of the DIE HARD movies. In DIE HARD, take control of New York police detective John McClane as he explores 15 levels of Nakatomi Plaza, blowing away terrorists and rescuing hostages. But remember, stealth can keep you alive longer than blazing guns. If all that sneaking around drives you insane, plug in a light gun and explore all of the deep recesses of Dulles International Airport while blowing terrorists to bits in DIE HARD 2. When shooting and killing doesn't satisfy your need for action, DIE HARD WITH A VENGENCE has McClane driving through New York City to locate and defuse bombs. DIE HARD TRILOGY lets the fans of the movies recreate some the best action seen in the films.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why hasen't anyone rated this game? It's awesome!, December 2, 1999

This game is awesome. Not to mention a great deal.McClane of the New York Police Department have to stop terrorists from seizing the Nakatomi Building in Los Angeles. You run from the first floor garage to the 40th floor stopping at the roof every 10 or so levels for a quick "save the hostages game." Then there is Die Hard 2, which is a first person shooter that has McClane running around JFK Airport unloading on terrorists with weapons varying from a Beretta to a rocket launcher. The only problem about that is that you don't control which way McClane goes. In other words it's just a track but it's long and very challenging. Lastly, Die Hard 3. This car based game has it all. Pedestrians you can role over with your car, not to mention the windshield effect, other cars blocking traffic, and ambulance chasing. In this one you have to blow up bombs by getting there before the timer runs out and you and New York city is blown to pieces. After you've completed the game, sit back and smile, because you just saved 2 major cities, and the United States, all from your home. After playing go to Amazon.com movies section and pick up the Die Hard Trilogy, you won't be disappointed.

This game was fun but you really need to buy the light gun for the playstation to play the first person shooter.
