great street punk,
By A Customer
This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
First off I want to defend the Casualties if I may..the Casualties are a street punk band , they play 80's UK era style punk like the Exploited, Blitz, Chaos UK , Infa-Riot , and GBH style punk..the style of street punk is often the spikey haired leather spiked and studded jackets. The Casualties are not in it for the image , this just happens to be the style of this particular genre of punk..it is not Minor Threat american hardcore or california style pop punk..this is street punkBut now to the review..Die Hards is everything that is right about punk today..it is a fast , hard , and raw album..even though earlier releases are less polished and have better song selection , that doesnt mean this is a great album. "Nightmare" and "Made In NYC" are the standouts..the opener and closer. This is an album for kids who still have the spirit of street punk still in them instead of the poppy mtv produced garbage out today

fantastic Casualtie's release,
By A Customer
This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
This is the strongest album the Casualtie's have released yet. I have been a fan of the Casualtie's since the Underground Army album and they just keep belting out fierce and raw street punk with horrid vocals only a punk rocker could tolerate. True the Casualtie's have a fashion sense , so did every oi! and street band from 1980-1986 pretty much , and that's basically where their sound is paying tribute too. And i've been a Casualtie's fan for a long time and I don't dress like them and wear GBH patches , and I've never seen Jorge make fun of anyone at a show either..well anyway this release is really good the best tracks are the opening and closing "Nightmare" and "Made in NYC" (a tribute to Joey Ramone). Up The Punx!!!

Preety Good,
This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
This is the casualties worst release. Thats said its a pretty good album. its a fun one, but i have several complaints. First the swearing, no im not some ass who hates and band thats says F@#k and i dont mind the swearing in on the front line, that cd has pleanty of it. Im just saying that in songs like victims he swears in every line of every verse. Now thats just dumb. Its like whenever he needs another sylable he just says F@#%. Thats bad lyric writting. I'm not offended by cursing, its just repetitive and dumb. Okay moving on, the worst song is easily Die Hards. Its just them singing a whole song about how awsome they are. I know that songs about being punk is not new for them, but the actuall song isnt that great either. One more thing that was simply an error when producing the cd is that there are two songs about touring in a row. kinda annoying, but it doesnt really matter. Moving on from the negetive, you have amazing songs like get off my back, which features ricks voice, and he kicks a$$. Also the spanish one totally rocks. Made in N.Y.C. is one of the casualties best songs. Its a tribute to Joey Ramone. Gabba Gabba Hey! Punk is here to stay! Hey Ho lets go! Sniffing glue all day!

A punk cartoon.,

The Casualties are all about fashion, not music. If it weren't for the Casualties' hair and clothing, I guarantee you these guys wouldn't be popular at all. 90% of the Casualties' fans are thickheaded conformists who dress to impress and all wear the exact same uniform of studded leather jackets, G.B.H. patches, multicolored mohawks, and buttflaps. The Casualties' music is derivative street/oi punk thats been done a million times better by a million different other bands. Oh, and if you still think that the Casualties are about music rather than fashion, I have a friend who went to a Casualties show, and Jorge Casualty publicly made fun of him becuase he didn't dress like studded, mohawked clone.

One of the best yet,
This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
How can that suzanne person say that about this band. They were creators of punk and arent doing it for their image. They are doing it because it is a lifestyle not part of your image. if you think blink and sum 41 are punk then youre crazy they are mainstream and doing it for money. The casualties are doing it for what they believe in and because its a lifestyle.

Stupid "Drink Punks" who only care about thier image,
By Suzanne E Brown (Alpharetta, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
The Casulties are everything that is wrong with punk music today. These guys only care about drinking themselves silly and dressing and acting "punk" to freak people out, and trying to fit in with the uncool crowd. These guys talk about hating jocks and preps when in actualality they are the same. The only difference between them and stupid jock preppy kids is football, Abrocrombie and rap music. Punk is not about looking cool and freaking out people (like some other reviewers said it was). Thats what punk was supposed to be against. Punk is about individualality, its about thinking for yourself and playing music for the fun of it, not to be cool or try to fit in. Punk isnt about making the scene or making people angry. It doesnt matter what you dress like or what your hair is like. Its whats on the inside that counts. Fitting in and being part of the group isnt what punks about. Punks not a religous cult, its about thinking for yourself. Wearing leather jackets, spiking your hair and drinking beers and trying to look cool doesnt make you a punk. That makes you a jock. Thinking for yourself and not giving a ...what other people think of you, always standing up for what you believe and never giving up, that makes you a punk. Punk has lost its meaning. Its only rebellious anymore because it makes money. Bands arent into the message anymore, they just act rebellious for an image, not because they actually believe in it. And thats sad. Bands like The Casulties are not punk. They are not even music. They're just stupid conformists. I'd rather listen to Sum41 and Blink 182 than the Casulties. Everyone reading this should do his/herself a favor and go buy a copy of MINOR THREAT'S Complete Discography and you might be suprised at what true punk rock is. These are the guys who started the straight edge movement (no smoking, drinking, drugs, or casual sex) and they have a harder edge and a louder more noisy sound than any other hardcore punk band out there. It makes the casulties sound like Nsync. And they dont need beer or spiked hair to do it either. Think about that.

A Kid's Review

I dunno why the hell you people say that The Casualties have horrible music. Yeah I admit, Jorge has a scratchy voice. But like he said to my cousin, whom is 17, "Don't smoke, or your voice will end up like this." But it really doesn't bother me. Yeah they talk about freakin' hippies and the government. But they can be very random. They come from NYC, about 15 minutes away from where I grew up. Made In NYC is a good song, 'Sniffing glue, drinking beer, don't give a f*** how the hippies feel.' My favorite song on this cd is probably 'Die Hards' or 'Punk Rock'. If you don't feel like listening to this band because of all these f***in morons reviews, go listen to: Anti Flag, Black Flag, NOFX, Rancid, Reel Big Fish, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murpheys, Green Day (not American Idiot though, the cd sucks), Goldfinger, Minor Threat, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, etc. Anyways, I'm a little 12 year old girl who is a crazy little riot girl who loves punk rock!

One of my favorite punk CDs,

I picked up this CD after seeing the Casualties live a few years ago. I have to say I've listened to this CD over and over. The songs are fast, furious, and full of energy. I find myself screaming along with the songs in my car. The CD is full of punk anthems that make you want to chant, yell and jump around. This is your typical street punk, crazy hair, three chord noise that I love.

Great Album. Favorite Casualties Release!,

This review is from: Die Hards (Audio CD)
This is a really good album. Probabely my favorite casualties release (die hards, for the punx, early years, stay out of order which is a wicked good album) those are my faves so far. I still havent gotten Whos in control EP. But i hate on the frontline. I liked it first but then i relized they have so many better releases. Anyways,on with the review.
Few of the songs talk about life one the road and how they are happy for other bands who never give up. Songs such as Can't Stop Us, and No turning back really give you examples of how they really made it throught hard times. You really have to look at the lyrics to know what they mean behind the songs. Also, the song This Is Your Life tells about Jorge's (the vox man) life it seems like. Also, it seems that it someone how working life dosnt pay much for them too. There is also a spanish song called Mierda Mundial and in english next to the name in the book its called Sh*tty world. Very nice guitar intro might i add too. Victims which is a very good good song and to me PERSONALLY it seems like that they are talking about how they are rejected and hated. There are some songs that are hard for me to explain such as Punk Rock, Nightmare and Divide and Conquer. But dont get me wrong they are very good songs though. The last song which is called Made In NYC and is a tribute to the famous Joey Ramone of the Ramones of course. Anyways, all in all, this is a really great album. Albums you should also get from these guys are: for the punx, stay out of order, early years (if i were you i wouldnt get it if u dont like raw bad quality recording but i like it alot). Those are my faves so far. I personally got sick of On The Front Line and Underground Army. There are a few good songs from those albums but I wouldnt reccomend them. For a last note, if you like these guys check out the bands called: The Unseen, A Global Threat, Clit 45, Cheap Sex, The Virus, Total Chaos and anything else the pleases your needs! Great album! Buy It! |
