5.0 out of 5 stars Die Prophezeiung, May 4, 2003
This review is from: Die Prophezeiung (Audio CD)
A truly great album. When I first discovered E Nomine, I had found what I had been searching for in music for a long time. Personally I am a fan of electronic music so I may be a little biased.

Die Prophezeiung impressed me most with a much greater emphasis on the orchestral/choir portions of the music. They've been brought closer to the front of the sound and are much more complex than those on Finsternis or Das Testament.

As a former industrial/synthpop DJ, the overall dancefloor potential of Die Prophezeiung is less than the previous albums, though the singles may make up for this. Especially in the techno/trance clubs.

So far everyone I have played this CD for has been impressed if not asked where they could buy their own. A few people in the older crowd were somewhat bothered by the spoken word vocals butting into the otherwise punchy flow of the music. Though I will say that the vocals are slowly and surely becoming more harmonious with the overall tone of the songs.

There are several songs that have predominantly female vocals and are far less harsh than the typical male voices.

Overall I have given Die Prophezeiung 5 stars. I feel that it would be a treat in anyone's personal music collection. For fans of Trance, Synthpop, Classical and Enya/Deep Forest type genres should definitely own this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get much better than this!, August 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Die Prophezeiung (Audio CD)
I at long last received the latest offering from the German group E Nomine yesterday and strongly feel that "Die Prophezeiung (Monumental Dance Edit)" is their best work to date! Thanks to nosferatum - an Amazon.com buddy who got me hooked on them - I just about own all of their albums now and they just keep getting better and better, which is a difficult feat to accomplish yet somehow they've managed! My passion for music has slowly been dwindling lately but E Nomine has finally revived this dry spell I've been going through. It seems incredibly hard to find really great music these days but there's so many elements I love here. It includes beautiful, melodic soundscapes (think Enigma), choral chanting with lush orchestrations (think Lesiem/Gregorian), pounding dance/industrial beats like no other I've heard, and ethereal New Age/operatic Pop singing (mostly female). But despite those common comparisons mentioned, rest assured they have a distinct sound that's entirely their own. However, I will emphasize on the fact that E Nomine is an acquired taste and certainly not for everyone. There's a lot of German speaking throughout the songs with many interludes, making it quite challenging for some to listen to. But honestly, the music is so astoundingly gorgeous I scarcely even notice!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as Good as Das Testament, March 15, 2005
This review is from: Die Prophezeiung (Audio CD)
I don't think this CD is as good as Das Testament, by itself. But if you were to listen to that and then this CD it would be good. Why? Because this is like a break from all that growling.

Its a very calm CD compared to the other one. Still good. But would probably be better to someone who liked soothing sort of music.

Well, none the less, I'll have translations up for this CD on my website (http://www.enomineforus.tk) by the end of this week for those of you who don't speak German.

4.0 out of 5 stars Die Prophezeiung (Klassik Edition), May 4, 2003
This review is from: Die Prophezeiung (Audio CD)
I am a great admirer of E Nomine's work, but I can't give this album 5 stars.

I've listened to this album a dozen times now, but I still can't quite decide what's wrong. A few different things struck me at first...

The big hit songs from the Pop Edition (Das Omen and Deine Welt) sound very out of place with out their pulsing beats. It seemed some attempt was made to duplicate the feeling of the electronic sounds with the orchestra, which didn't feel right to me. The strong spoken vocals also seemed to disrupt the flow and feeling of the music.

Some of the songs seemed to lack some of the grandeur that I expected from E Nomie, but were still good. Several songs actually moved me a bit more in their "Klassik" renditions.

A few songs seemed a bit repetitive, despite the addition of subtle harmonies. I did (and do) get a minor chuckle when a horn section in Laetitia reminded me of the MacGuyver theme song.

Overall this album does not have the overall power and emotion that typical classical music has for me, however I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Someone who is picky about their classical music will need to be a bit more open when listening to this album. This is no Wagner or Orff. I would still highly reccomend giving Die Prophezeuing a chance, but it may not be for everyone. Though it is a must have for E Nomine fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different, but darn good anyways!, July 5, 2009
This review is from: Die Prophezeiung (Audio CD)
Out of the different releases of "Die Prophezeiung" I chose this because of the tracks which aren't available on any of the others. Particularly "Carpe Noctem", which is one of my favorites.

At first, the electronica remix sounded a bit odd and unusual, since I only have listened to the "originals" before. But after some time, I started to enjoy it anyways. Some parts are still "wrong", but all in all a good buy.
