5.0 out of 5 stars dirty ass long island lowlife, April 6, 2005
this is the best cd i own period. ra speaks about real stuff that most people dont understand or want to hear. i myself am a dirt poor white guy from long island and been listening to ra since i heard stanley kubrick on the rawkus sound bombing 2. ra spits the truth about being a broke white long island weirdo, rapping about being a dirtbag who people are disgusted by and being in homeless shelters and being a beggar and girls dont wanna mess with you when every other rapper is talking about the streets like it is glitz and glamor. he is not trying to impress you like eminem or draw parallels between himself and black people constantly or say he is the buddy white guy like alchemist. finally a white rapper who does not make himself look like a clown and embarass white people everywhere. ra is the original ass kicking crusty german bastard and he does not care that everyone believes the bs every other rapper talks about. and the best thing about him is he knows all this, and knows what he could rap about or pretend to be like if he wanted to blow up, and why eminem and other rappers make it big and he has been broke rapping for 15 years, and he still keeps it real for the few people that get it. it is damn refreshing and i can't think of anyone i respect more. 2 or 3 beats sound a bit too much like carnival music but who care in the scheme of things.

5.0 out of 5 stars i don't want mtv runnin' up in my crib, November 1, 2006
ra the rugged man has been chewed up and crapped out by the record industry over the past decade and a half. i mean, rolling thru Jive threatening execs with a sawed-off and harrassing female employees didn't help but still, dude's got skills! what a triumphant first (released) album! the first 6 tracks are flawless. "lessons" was the single hottest jam of '05. for those like me that value raw rap over boom-bap beats, this is the joint for you! if you like watered down radio friendly hip-pop girly stuff probably not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pick up my gun!, January 15, 2005
Finally one of the best in the hip hop genre has released a debut! Fortunately I just happend to stumble on this debut from Rugged Man two weeks ago while searching for new cds at amazon. I saw Die Rugged man Die and had to buy it. This cd is an instant classic and it will never leave your cd wallet. The skit "pick up my gun" is worth $15 dollars! If you enjoy original hip hop music with good production and a clear, consise mc then you should already have this release! Thank goodness for amazon becasue you sure as hell would never here about this release on MTV or urban mainstream radio becasue those aren't places to discover groundbreaking music just garbage to consume! Get dumb dida dumb di dumb dumb!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent hip hop, nothing great
After hearing him in Uncommon Valor (A Vietnam Story), I thought I'd check out some of his other work. I wasn't all that impressed. It's decent but nothing great.
