Very good,

This review is from: Die Smiling (Pinnacle Books Fiction) (Paperback)
Die Smiling is the third book in the Claire Morgan series. Claire is a detective along with her partner Bud in a small town in Missouri. Bud is dating Brianna, a model and former Beauty Queen. A beauty contest is being held for all ages at the resort that Clarie's boyfriend, Nick Black owns. Bri hasn't heard from her sister, Hilde, in a few days and asks Bud and Claire to check on her. Claire and Bud find Hilde dead in the shower with her lips cut off leaving her with a grotesque smile. Claire and Bud begin to investigate with the help of her rich boyfriend, Nick.
This book wasn't as creepy and dark as the first two books, but I really enjoyed it and always find them to be highly entertaining. I'm always surprised by some aspect of the murder mystery and she didn't dissappoint in this sequel.

Since I totally lack writing skills, I won't go into a lengthy review. I'll just tell this is another great book. I look forward to the next one!

An Ozark Roller coaster ride,

This review is from: Die Smiling (Pinnacle Books Fiction) (Paperback)
In Die Smiling Ms Ladd gives us her third novel featuring Detective Claire Morgan. In this novel Claire along with her billionaire boyfriend psychiatrist Nick Black 'shrink of the strars and resort owner' and her other cohorts at the Sheriffs Department in Lake of the Ozarks Missouri try to solve the grizzly murder of a Model, it becomes a bit sticky when the sister of the victim is dating Claire's partner, but it doesn't end there, and as the plot thickens we the readers are left scratching our heads trying to figure out 'who done it'. There are more twists and turns in this read than on any rollercoaster I've ever been on, but believe me when I say you'll love the ride. This novel isn't for the feint of heart but if you love a great crime/mystery read with just a touch of romance then this book is for you.

I could not put this book down. It was a bit predictable, but had enough interesting twists and vivid descriptions to make the reader want to find out what happens to these likable characters in a very bad situation. The characters, even the evil ones, came to life. After I thought I had it all figured out, I was thrown for a bit of a loop. I liked it enough to buy another book about these same main characters.

Would help to read previous two novels in this series first. However, you can read them out of sequence without being totally lost. A page turner that will leave you wanting more from this author!

I thought this book had a little touch of everything in it. Mayhem, Sex, to madness. Taylor Jackson is the best wise cracking detective yet. I'm continually fascinated by the relationship between her and the wealthy Dr. Black. Myself, I like McKay and wonder what relationship he will play in the upcoming novels with Jackson. What also will the exwife Jude be doing. I can't help but wonder if she has a trick up her sleeve to get the good doctor back in her bed and if so what will happen to Taylor. All the I like you garbage she mouthed in this book felt phony to me. Maybe Taylors life style draws Black to her it sure isn't her fashion style.
We'll just wait for the next book to see what is going down next. |
