Book Description

September 1, 2002
Auf dem Herrensitz der Paradines wird das alljaehrliche Neujahrsdinner vorbereitet. Aber die Harmonie truegt: In einer Rede bezichtigt James Paradine seine Gaeste, ihm wichtige Dokumente gestohlen zu haben. Doch kurz nach Mitternacht ist James Paradine tot. Bei der Suche nach dem Taeter geraet Miss Silver in ein scheinbar unentwirrbares Netz aus Neid, Missgunst und Furcht.

Each year there is a New Year’s dinner at Paradine’s manor. But the civility is short-lived. In a speech, James Paradine blames his guests for stealing important documents from him. But right after midnight James Paradine is dead. Miss Silver then undercovers an inextricable web of envy and fear.

This review is from: Die Uhr schlägt zwölf (German Edition) (Paperback)
The book, as usual with Ms. Wentworth, was/is very entertaining. My wife found that reading it in translation to German was very interesting in word choice and "feel". We were both surprised and pleased with the speed of its arrival and the condition it was in.
Thank you.
