Most Helpful Customer Reviews

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Lauren D. Matheson on January 3, 2011
Format: Paperback
If you've read "The very hungry caterpillar" in English, you know the story and art. While translations always require some wiggle in the language, the German version is identical to the English in this case because Eric Carle is (was?) English-German bilingual and handled both language editions himself.
Having both copies means you can expose a child not only to the caterpillar life cycle, fruit, counting, days of the week and effects of overindlugence, but also bilingualism. Pretty cool for a book for little people.

Our baby likes to overeat and then spit up quite a bit.....so when I was going through baby books in German, I stumbled over this cute story. That hungry caterpillar reminds us of our 4 month munchkin spitter. LOL

My daughter loves this book. It is exactly to the English version with little "holes" where the catapillar ate thru the food. it is also great for me to improve my German. Would recommend it to any parent fro kids over 18mo.

It is a very small paperback, but it was just the perfect baby shower gift for my friend who is a German language teacher. It was easily the biggest hit of the shower!

My sister wanted this book so she could read one of my daughter's favorite stories to her in German. My daughter is learning German from my sister and this book is a big help :-)

We love Eric Carle, especially this book. It was fulfilling to read it in his native language with my kids.
