Being a CSX employee, I am always critical on everything I read about my employer. This book was fantastic! Great information about the locomotives that are "Trusted to Move America". In depth descriptions, history of the motive power, and schematic drawings to show how the paint is applied to each unit. The only drawback I feel is the limited locations of photography. It has alot of Appalacian area photographs, which must be where the author/authors live. This book could have used photo's from across the system to give it more of an overall CSX feel. Other than that, a great book!

An excellent presentation, securely bound, top notch paper, clear and easy to read with great photos. I agree it is a must for a railroad modeller or fan of the CSX, very informative. Couldn't put it down and one I'll refer to constantly. And if you live outside USA - A MUST.

This is a great book for railbuffs, modelrailroaders,and just about anyone interested in trains. It will come in handy if you are modelrailroader who is modeling CSX. Take it from me. This is just a great book.

the pictures in this book were fantastic. and it provided great information on the locomotives themselves. i highly reccomend it.

I was very much looking forward to this book when it was first announced, and although it contains a lot of information, I found it frustrating to read through due to numerous technical and grammatical errors and the disorganized manner in which information was presented. Many of the errors in the book made it appear as if it had not been proof-read or had been rushed to publication without being thoroughly reviewed.

The authors seemed anxious to provide as much information as possible about the diesels discussed in the book, without following any particular format for how the information was presented. A given diesel description may tell how much sand and water is carried by that model, how much fuel it can hold, or other such details, while such information is left out of the next model description. Technical errors, such as the model designation of one of GE's diesels, described as a "CW40-8B," provide unsuspecting readers with inaccurate information. Revamping the book to present data for each diesel model in an organized manner and correcting the technical errors would have greatly improved the book.

The book contains a number of useful photos for both railfan and modeler, but some of the photos are of poor quality and add little to the book.

I was disappointed that this book did not turn out better. I felt that I could have personally improved on much of the content had I had a chance to review it prior to publication, and I feel that the authors and publisher missed out on an opportunity to produce a superior book on a fascinating subject.
