this is such a smart book,

This book blew me away, i saw it in USA Today and got it from you guys...and after reading it just feelso much smarter. I've been on lots of diets, like Atkins, South Beach and never really liked being on them--this book is so smart, because it deals with portion control, so I feel like I'm not deprived. I just eat smaller amounts and I love getting all the information about what's happening to me and why need to take care of my body. Plus the book doesn't sound like a lecture. yeah! this is a good one...

I'm using my Dad's email to write and let you know this is a great book. I'm 13 and was wondering if I should lose some weight. This book has helped me feel better about myself. I also have a plan now and know how to eat better.
thanks

Lizzy,
By Lizzy (New Jersey) - See all my reviews

Although I am not a teenager I found this book very helpful (I did have to go on line to calculate my bmi, however). I didn't want to go on a fad diet, and I wanted to read something in an interesting format. This book teaches you to eat healthy for life and most importantly it helps you understand portion sizes. Unlike so many fad diets, it gives you the knowledge you need to make wise choices in the real world of food and drink (what to do when faced w/a plate of cookies?).
The format is easy to read and understand. Again, I am not a teenager, but a young Mom. It has helped me already lose 1/3 of my goal post-baby weight. It teaches you to eat healthy, eat healthy amounts, and have a healthy lifestyle (excercise, etc). I love the fact that it has several pages that give actual sized, color examples of the serving size of pizza, muffin, fruit, mac and cheese, etc. I have definitly used the pizza cut out several times!

Very Good- Combine with Toning For Teens,
By
This review is from: The Diet for Teenagers Only (Paperback)
I bought both "The Diet for Teenagers Only" and "Toning for Teens" by Joyce Vedral about 10 days ago, and I have already noticed a difference. Combining the healthy eating plan with the exercise program is already affecting me. I feel stronger (but a little sore) and I have more energy. Also, I have lost about 5 pounds! So I would call that a good start, if you do the math 10 days/5 pounds = 1/2 pound per day. The Pom tea recipe in this book tastes pretty good to me... and makes great popsicles! If it's not sweet enough for you, add orange juice or apple juice (both unfiltered with no sugar added). Also, the diet is pretty easy to stick to, make sure to keep a food diary because it does help! Even on days where I overate, I was still only eating about 1700 calories. These are two very smartly written books and they can help you on you goal to a healthy lifestyle!
P.S. A great way to make raw or cooked vegetables taste better without adding fat or even many calories is to dip them in vinegar-balsamic, white wine, distilled white, or many of the flavored vinegars on the market. Also, drink those 6 glasses a water per day. You will need to go to the bathroom more, but you feel... lubricated? I don't know. It just feels nice.

Great Book!!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Diet for Teenagers Only (Paperback)
This is the best diet book ever for teens!! It's great because it really stresses not to use "fad diets" or resort to starving yourself, binging and purging, etc. It's also catered to teen girls only, with great sections like "eat this, not that" for the lunch room, vending machines, restaurants, and so on. The only problem is that the diet is REALLY strict, although it, luckily, does not cut a food group. Really helpful are the food diary pages, the special tricks, and the page of monthly measurements. I'm so motivated now to lose my 10 lbs.!! I haven't started the diet yet, but I am tomorrow! I can't wait to look awesome for bikini season!!

Pretty Sweet,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Diet for Teenagers Only (Paperback)
I'm 13, almost 14, and my mom bought me this book because I was concerned about my health and body image. I'm not overweight, but I know how important it is to eat healthy and maintain an ideal weight for my age. Unlike most dieting books I've read, this book is low pressure and actually makes me feel good about myself. Just knowing that I am a girl and I deserve to look and feel beautiful. It's easy to understand and to follow, and also easy to stick to. I love how exercise is encouraged along with making healthy decisions. Along with health information, this book also features easy recipes and dieting plans from experienced nutritionists. Pretty sweet. I'd definitely recommend it.

Outstanding book!!,

I purchased this book for my 14 year old daughter who has been struggling with her weight for a couple years. Even though I've tried to help her guide her and assist as much as possible, she never believed the things I told her.. such as not to skip meals. (Typically teenager) This book has been a God-send. She is learning about her body and information about how to lose weight safely, and since it is written in black and white, she is beginning to understand what I've been trying to tell her. She has gotten serious about eating appropriately so she can begin to lose weight. She also LOVES this book!

great for teens!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Diet for Teenagers Only (Paperback)
I'm 14 and I got this book after finding out that diets like Weight Watchers and South Beach are not for teens. I read the whole thing on a sick day from school and it taught me how to find good portions are and how to read a nutritian lable on foods. It also taught me how to loose weight safe and with helpful tips for exercise and diet. This book is the best thing for teenagers looking to loose weight or just learn how to eat healthier! I have only been on it for 2 weeks and have already lost 7 lbs!

Awesome book about being heathy/fit for teenage girls!!,

This review is from: The Diet for Teenagers Only (Paperback)
I bought this book for my 15 year old that was trying to get fit and eat healthier. She read the whole book in 1 night and she actually taught me some stuff. She has been following the book for almost 3 weeks now and I love it. She has learned about portion control and how many of each food group she should consume a day and it's about being fit!!
It's a lifestyle. I could tell her stuff until I was blue in the face but this book was key for us. Highly recommend it!

THANK GOD FOR THIS BOOK!! After reading this, I FINALLY know the meaning of portion sizes and how to read those complicated labels on the nutrition facts. The workouts are fun (great illustrations!) and the food recipies are easy, and after eating the dishes I feel so much healthier and better about myself. I have so much more energy, and I'm just 18 years old! This book is not just for young teenagers, I'd buy this if I was 30!
