A poorly designed front end for a database, this program is highly reminiscent of rookie Visual Basic database programming, circa 1995. The program rolls over dead, with no graceful exit, when a wrong character is entered in a box, and the interface is far removed from what one would expect starting the second decade of the 21st century. It is extremely clumsy to enter information in any category, from exercise to meals; individual food data must be entered in ALL meal categories in order for it to be used in a category other than that in which it was originally entered, and this type of poor interface design and functionality is inherent throughout the entry part of the program. Reports are not too bad, but are mostly too inflexible to be usefull.

All in all, don't bother with this program. I don't know if there is anything better out there, but this software has no resemblance whatsoever to the glowing reviews.

This program worked pretty good when I first installed it. However, when I upgraded to Windows 7 and needed to reinstall it, I ran into a brick wall. To install it on a new machine, or the same machine whose OS has been replaced, you have to run a licensing transfer utility which gives you a code you give to DietMaster. They are supposed to then give you a code which lets you activate it on the new computer, but after repeated attempts, I have never been able to get a reply from them.

I'm looking for something to replace this program with, I won't be buying anything else from DietMaster.

I regret not trying a trial of this product before buying. The program is inflexible in the amount of food you can log. If you're not eating their preset amounts of each food item, then you can't log it accurately. I contacted their customer service and the woman could only tell me that those amounts were what the USDA designated as the amount people should eat. Want to eat 1/2 cup of something instead of 1 cup, or 20 grams instead of 50? You can't log it in that way.

The customer service is just one person, as far as I can tell. I called twice and selected a different menu choice each time, and both times I got the same woman (Lisa). She was very brisk the first time I called, and testy and unprofessional the second time--often putting me on hold and starting to talk to someone else she was with even before she pushed the hold button.

This product might be a good buy for someone who is looking for someone to tell them what to eat and who won't need to contact the company for questions. If this is you, then this may be the program for you. However, if you eat specialty foods, or if you want to customize the amounts of food you consume to fit your own personal needs, or if you know quite a bit about nutrition and do not need someone else to guide your diet, this is not going to be the program for you.

Ultimately, I was very disappointed. After all the glowing reviews I'd read, and the fact that they have a program for professionals, I had expected something much more tuned to the needs of the user than what I received.

I bought the software when I was required to go on a low cholesterol diet. I had no idea how much cholesterol was in the different foods I ate. The first problem that I encountered was that most of the time, I had to enter products with all the information off the package into DietMaster. I would have expected a larger database of products and sizing choices. The second problem is the main issue. I had to remove DietMaster from my computer. It continued to cause my computer to freeze up,give error messages and close down. My computer is new (less than 4 months old) with Windows 7 and has a dual core processor and tons of memory. I could not get my computer to work well if I opened the DietMaster software. I read the "Read Me" file, which said there were no compatibility issues. I recovered my computer to the point before installing DietMaster and I haven't had a problem since. I have no plans of reinstalling it and I have ended up paying for a program that will not run on my computer.

I purchased this software after a friend recommended it and I couldn't happier!! Felt great knowing meal plans are designed by a Registered Dietitician and I was able to print out a grocery list with my meal plans which was amazing!! Customer Service was also super...I was able to call in with questions and speak to a live person right away!!! I would definately purchase from this company again and would also recommend it to friends and family.

Great software. I especially like the registered dietitian pre-designed meal plans. It is simple to follow and it allows me to print a grocery list to take to the store. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a healthy way to a sensible diet.

I have always been very thin and very fit, even to the age of 57. After an injury I found myself in a place needing some help to lose that last 10lbs. I am also a programmer and very critical of the software products I use. This program fits every need I have. My requirement was to count my daily calories and get some idea of protein intake. The program does that very well and intuitively. I keep my shopping to a minimum but the program offers every conceivable diet plan and a cool shopping list grouped for an efficient time in the store. Very useful tool, easy to use, great tutorials, I entered my first meal in 15min.

a JOKE OF A PROGRAM...BAIT AND SWITCH...SHOWS HIGH QUALITY PROGRAM IN ADVERTISEMENT AND SENDS A SINGLE USER UNEDITABLE VERSION...NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THE COMPANY AGAIN...

This software is not a smooth running machine. The copy I downloaded froze up or closed unexpectedly on MacOSX several times in just a few days. In general, the database of foods is lacking and uses a fairly primitive search. A food may be in the database but you may never find it after guessing numerous times. I found bison in their database by accident (under "game meat") AFTER having searched for it several ways, giving up, and entering it under "bison" on my own. Why does a diet software tracker have all kinds of fast foods listed but not AllBran? I am dieting, after all... Adding foods to this database was also cumbersome. I tried to duplicate one meal to my husbands file and it duplicated my whole day's food intake to his. No fun deleting all of that.

One word: annoying. I have found much friendlier software elsewhere.

A friend lost a lot of weight following the diets in this software, so I'd thought I would give it a try. The software is easy to use. The recipes are very delicious. Customer service is great. I had questions on how to use it and they were able to help. I recently recommended this to a friend who needs to log foods because of diabetes. It's a great tool if you are interested in knowing how many calories you are taking in. Highly recommend it.
