4.0 out of 5 stars Motivating, and a pleasure to read, plus great recipes.
It's true that the information in the book is not groundbreaking, but it was encouraging, and practical, and reinforced all the things I've been telling myself to do but not really doing. The Duchess looks fabulous on the cover, and she has included some very embarrassing photos of herself to make a point. I can't help thinking that if she can do it after all she's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I thought this would be a book with "new" ideas of how to conquer the battle with weight issues. IT is actually the same old stuff, just rehashed once again. It is an interesting read, but won't give you any advice or inspiration you haven't already heard time and time again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dieting With The Duchess - feeding friendly companion, May 18, 2000

This is an elegant & pleasant companion for your kitchen. Sarah, the Duchess of York, has always been a favorite of mine - lively, loquacious & eager. This book is much more than a depressing diet book. It's about changing our ways; taking a kindly yet clear look at how we fuel up & what we do with the energy. It's about adding serenity & charm into our out-of-control eating habits. With beautiful illustrations & photos of fine feasts; delicious recipes; amusing & down-to-earth insights; fascinating stories from her life & hints on how to make over our unsatisfying eating habits, Sarah, Duchess of York, together with Weight Watchers offers a premium, full-color, journal-type book to grace our kitchens & our lives. The perfect gift! Very well done, I thoroughly enjoyed it.()

5.0 out of 5 stars Did we read the same book?, August 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dieting with The Duchess: SECRETS AND SENSIBLE ADVICE FOR A GREAT BODY (Hardcover)
I have to think that some of the other reviewers did not actually read this book. It is very well done and has helpful advice and compassion for those who are struggling with their weight. Also, the recipes are very tasty. It might not be the quick fix that some are looking for, but it is healthy and it works!

While this book does not really offer anything new, what she says is true. Weight Watchers is one of the best ways to lose weight sensibly.

5.0 out of 5 stars An independent, inspiring woman, January 31, 2004
Duchess Sarah is an inspiring person. She has overcome emotional trauma many times in her life, and escaped gracefully from an unhappy marriage to an extremely domineering family of immature aristocrats. She has done enormous things for science, and the health of all women by promoting well-being, nutrition, exercise and disease prevention. A recent study out of Harvard Medical School says that the number ONE thing to do to prevent chronic illness is to control one's weight and not remain overweight. This ranked over even such vices as smoking and drinking. So please, let's give the Duchess what she deserves...a pat on the back and our admiration.

This review is from: Dieting with The Duchess: SECRETS AND SENSIBLE ADVICE FOR A GREAT BODY (Hardcover)
This book offers sensible dieting and nutritional advice along with recipes and exercise tips. It's motivating. The Duchess writes candidly about her weight problems, offers a new slant on diet issues, and inspires women to deal with the sources of their weight problems.

3.0 out of 5 stars WW and Sarah, finally, a successful marriage for the Duchess, June 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dieting with The Duchess: SECRETS AND SENSIBLE ADVICE FOR A GREAT BODY (Hardcover)
The book contains sound and motivationg information for both WW members or anyone dieting on their own, but who would really believe she wrote one word of it? I'm willing to bet her publicist and a WW PR/copywriter put this together and she just posed for the pictures. Nice companion piece to the WW program.
