Thank you, thank you, thank you. When you say ported over, I suppose you mean that those scenes are the same as on the original DVD? Is the new scene worthwhile? You seem to think that the new version looks better, is there any reason not to prefer the new version, anything crucial that didn't get carried over? Or should I just sell my original and buy the new, improved version?
Hi Pas, as to the quality differences between versions, although I haven't compared them myself, I've been reading internet reviews on DVDTalk & HomeTheaterForum, and the picture differences are minor if any. Nobody seems to think it's worth buying the new DVD for the sake of quality alone.
The 2008 DVD added, as JB said, 7 new mini featurettes, new commentary, 1 deleted scene. But they dumped the Harry Connick video & 33min Making Of featurette.
I'm going to wait for the Blu-Ray release, myself. I think the 2001 DVD is plenty good enough to keep me happy til then.
