The Original Documents in Audio Book Format, November 27, 2005
This review is from: A Difference in Magnitude: The World's First Nuclear Attacks as Chronicled by 1945 & 1946 Documents and Recording (Audio CD)
Just before and immediately after the Atomic Bomb attacks on Japan a series of documents were written to cover such things as the recommendations of the scientists on the use of the bomb, the speeches President Truman made, the actual orders given to the Army Air Force to make the attack, target selection, and of course afterward there were extensive damage accessments made on the effects of the bomb.
These documents have been collected together and recorded on three CD's. To anyone interested in the history of the atomic bomb usage, this is invaluable information. We live in a time where revisionist historians are presenting a view that there was strong opposition to the use of the bomb. The original documents written at the time say otherwise. There was little doubt that after the Bataan Death March, the Rape of Nanking, the torture and execution of prisoners there was little interest in treating the Japanese kindly. Besides we only had two bombs.
