Biography

Many consider Gary Moore to be one of the most underappreciated guitarists in rock music, particularly in America where he has barely made an impression at all. Nonetheless he is often cited as an influence on the work of many other notable guitarists including Ozzy Osbourne’s axeman Randy Rhoads, and his fortunes are interweaved with the success of other well-considered artists.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure yet, December 4, 1999

I just got this cd and I'm not sure of it yet. It took me by surprise. I've been listening to him since the G force recordings and It's a bit strange to listen to the new stuff..But I have to take exception with the guy who wrote the Why review. to say that Gary Moore was not good at blues guitar playing is the dumbest thing I've ever heard written about anyone..Gary Moore is (without Question) the most versatile guitarist of the past 20 years..from Thin Lizzy on...When I hear the Old "Eric Clapton, the world's greatest guitarist line, I realize that the person writing this has never heard Gary Moore , maybe I'll grow to like the new one , but if not , "Still got the blues" is always here to do the trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Moore's best cd to date, October 30, 1999
By A Customer
At a time in most musical careers when artists live off past accomplishments, Gary Moore is one of a handful of artists that continues to grow and push the envelope. In short, this CD rocks!!! The first two songs "Go back home" and "Lost in your Love" grab your attention right off the bat. "Go on home" should make a great video, with it's "in your face" attitude. The guitar playing is top notch, as always, but more focused. His remake of the Jimi Hendrix hit "Fire" breaths new life into the classic rocker. "Surrender" is a smokey blues ballad that features a great blues solo in the "Our separate ways" vein. His playing is a little more restrained, more focused in the solo's, and it sounds great. If you've ever liked Gary Moore, you must get this cd. All his influences, from Blues to hard rock to pop, all mesh for a sound that is immediately engaging and highly memorable. Keep up the good work, Gary!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Get back your old band, January 28, 2000

Been a Gary Moore fan since "The End of the World" days back in the early 80's. Have collected every album/cd since and have never been let down until this CD. Gary is still great and the songs will survive if played live and not off of some soundboard or whatever that repetitive annoying snapping sound is on the majority of the songs. Surrender is the only song I care to listen to. This CD sound like a TV show that has a laugh track rather than a live studio audience. I give the 3 stars rating only out of respect for Mr. Moore. But please, get back to live rock and roll or the blues, and drop the disco-ish sound.
