5.0 out of 5 stars I would give it 10*
This is my favorite Cd of all time, I listen to it all the time when I am driving in the car. I keep it on repeat! The songs are all incredible, I have them all memerized even the french ones! This is well worth the cost of an import cd. You will not be disapointed!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, intriguing and entertaining
I believe "Different" was one of Kate Ryan's first complete CD (2002).

The music on this CD seems like the same old euro-pop and cliche in parts, but overall "Different" is enjoyable.

Some of the songs are in French and some in English (and I like that mix of the two languages).

Much of this CD's song's lyrics are cliche and trite...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Vocal Pop Trance in English and French, January 18, 2004

Kate Ryan is one of several current Belgian dance bands: Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, Sylver, Milk Inc. & Dee Dee to name some of them. However I feel her album really is the most "Different" and every track is high in energy and easy to play again and again.

Several tracks are in French. Most but not all also have English versions on the Album. This helps the album because there are so many tracks to enjoy.

What else makes it different? The songs are mostly very upbeat - more similar to Eurodance in that respect. It isn't a dark album. The sounds used and guitar instrumentation is also unique to others in the genre.

It is a club dance album, but I have hooked many of my friends on this CD - it has a universal appeal and energy. Kate also offers a unique, simple yet tear-inducing ballad "Magical Love" at the end of the album.

Kate has come a long way since I remember "Scream for More" reaching the USA. Check her out and give her your support!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, January 5, 2005

As other reviewers have mentioned, Kate Ryan has a lovely voice and the music on this album compliments it beautifully. I love the fact that she has sung a number of songs in French and they are good additions to this 16 track CD. However, EMI have decided to copy protect it, which means that I can't transfer the music to my MP3 player, which is a shame as I love listening to music on the move. I would have given this album 5 stars but the copy protection is a great bug-bear of mine, not just because of being unable to transfer the tracks to my MP3 player but because they warn you on the back of the CD in smallish print that this album may not be playable in such devices as a car cd player - how stupid is that?!

As an aside, I'd recommend Gioia Bruno's "Expose This" album released July 2004 by Koch Records. It is a stunning album with mostly trance tracks such as "Be Mine", "Barely Breathing" and "Incredible" (which is the next single from the album). You can tell that a lot of effort has been put into the making of this album. It's one of the best albums I've bought in a long time and it would sit nicely amongst Kate Ryan, Milk Inc and 4 Strings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely 5 stars!!!!!!!, January 2, 2004

This CD is just simply fantastic!! I personally think her songs in French especially her dance versions to French singer Mylène Farmer's "Désenchantée", and "Libertine" are the best songs on the CD!! Nevertheless, Kate Ryan is great in both English and French. Don't shy away because of the French tracks! Even if you don't understand the language, you will love the French tracks just as much as the English ones!!! All of the beats are simply contagious! THIS CD IS THE BOMB!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the future sound of techno, September 23, 2003
This review is from: Different (Audio CD)
kate ryan knows how to distinguish herself in an already overloaded techno scene; her music is extremely dancy and contagious it makes you want to rock in your chair while working so just imagine the effect on a dancefloor. there are of course the supreme techno anthems "mon coeur resiste encore", mylene farmer's "desenchantee" and "libertine" but the entire album (nothing tops the original versions but kate ryan's covers do come close!) is packed with bore-free, intensely visual music. buy it and "see" for yourself ;)
highly, amazingly, diabolically recommended.

This album is simply amazing. Every song on this album is good. There's not one bad song!! Kate Ryan has been one of the biggest artist over in Europe and Im sure as soon as this album hits the u.s. she will be big here also. Id suggest to everyone to buy this album. When you hear these songs you just have to get up and move. I cant even understand the french songs and those are my favorites. If you like dance music even just a little, you'll love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1 OF THE BEST ALBUM'S OF 2002, December 22, 2004
This review is from: Different (Audio CD)
ok, Kate ryan is awsome. This CD exploded all over europe on its release, back in 2002. I think that this probably is One of the best albums of 2002, in my opinion. That kate, does have talent, she really can sing. THIS IS A TRANCE ALBUM, if your expecting full-on euro, turn elsewhere. This is a really catchy album, it's got some HUGELY SUCCESSFULL singles on this disc, encluding kate's 1st single "scream for more" which went straight to number 1 on the belgium dance charts, "Desenchantee" which was HUGE all over the world, and "UR My Love" which was huge, here in Canada. This is a perfect album to add to your cd collection, from one of todays most, biggest vocal trance starts. (like Milk Inc, Sylver, Fragma, and Alice Deejay). Also check out kate's second album "Stronger" for more hit's, which is also a kick ass album to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome debut album..., July 11, 2003
By
This review is from: Different (Audio CD)
The debut album by this Belgian sweetheart is, simply, AWESOME!
I received the disc today from the Russain Federation. I purchased the 'full version album' with 18 tracks. If you can find it, it's worth it.
I first heard Kate over the internet from Austria's Antenne Tirol (which, disappointingly, no longer broadcasts over the 'net). 'Desenchantee' was the first of her songs I became acquainted with, a song I just can't get enough of. (The disc I have has an extended, mostly instrumental, remix of this song.) 'Scream for More', both French and English versions, 'Libertine', and 'UR (My Love)' are my absolute favorites, but the whole disc is an absolute delight! If you love great dance music, wonderful melodies, and a truly gorgeous voice, Kate Ryan is for you. Get the disc. You won't be disappointed! And you won't be able to keep still!
