She's back! (as if she ever really left),

Incredible maxi single! All of the remixes here are unique and each has a different approach to the song... much more even-handed and less hit-and-miss than Song For The Lonely's maxi. The track listing is as follows:Different Kind of Love Song remixes: Music's No Good Without You remixes: All in all it's over an hour of music. They did some amazing stuff with these songs. Highly recommended.

Finally--some credible remixes of one of Cher's most amazing songs (and the best song of "Living Proof". This single contains 7 totally different and amazing remixes of "A Different Kind of Love Song" and two mixes of "The Music's No Good Without You"--one of which is the AMAZING Almighty 12' mix--pure heaven. The tracks on this single far outshine the mixes made for "Song For The Lonely", just check out Lenny's B's mix and see why (track 6), also included is an interesting mix by Rodney Jerkins. Any Cher fan (or any Queen!) should have this CD close by.

Great second single from Living Proof,

This review is from: A Different Kind of Love Song/ The Music's No Good Without You (Audio CD)
I really love Living Proof, and I decided to buy the singles from that album. Song for the Lonely was a really great single, and this one is too. Most of the songs on A Different Kind of Love Song/The Music's No Good Without You are very lengthy with some reaching eight minutes. They are perfect for dance clubs. I only wish that there were more mixes of "The Music's No Good Without You" because that is an awesome song, one of my ultimate favorites from Cher. But that doesn't take away from this single at all. My favorite mixes are: "A Different Kind of Love Song: Rosabel Attitude Vocal," "A Different Kind of Love Song: Rodney Jerkins Main Mix (Faster)," "A Different Kind of Love Song: Johnny Rocks Mix Show Edit," "The Music's No Good Without You: Almighty 12" Mix," and "The Music's No Good Without You: Walter Taieb Mix." This is a must have for fans of Cher and Living Proof.

This review is from: A Different Kind of Love Song/ The Music's No Good Without You (Audio CD)
This cd has 9 mixes of two songs:7 for "A Different Kind Of Love Song" and 2 for "The Music's No Good Without You". The Mixes for "A Different Kind Of Love Song" range from aggressive house to tea party nrg to slight disco. The first mix is the Rosabel Attitude Vocal mix(8:56) and is very aggressive house in every good way -meaning the beats are tough but the vocals are front and center. The second mix is The Murk Main mix(9:06) is a little more laid back than the first mix. It is very well done. Then you get the Ralphi Rosario Alternative Vox Mix (9:17)and this is more big room type of mix in that is sounds bigger and more out in sound than normal. Mix 4 is the Rodney Jerkins Main Mix (Faster) (4:19) and shows the R&B /Jeep King producer doing an excellent job of coming around to Cher's dance side by doing a mix that is more club house in style than his usual work that he does for the likes of J-Lo or Mary J. Blige. Very well done. Mix 5 is the Johnny Rocks Mix Show Edit(5:58) and is sort of the Thunderpuss type mix:over the top and then some . This mix is under 6 minutes and works very well for mix shows to play. Mix 6 is the Lenny Bertaldo Different Kind Of Club Mix(7:15) and is the disco mix of the cd. Excellent. Mix 7 is the Craig J Classic Love Mix(7:04) and to me is the Almighty Mix of the cd. Very similar to their work Craig J takes the song to the NRG sound that truly is the persona of Cher in remix form. Best Mix!!!The 2 mixes for "The Music's No Good Without You" come in the Almighty 12" Mix (8:04) which was on the UK cd single and is just perfect. The Second mix is the Walter Taleb Mix(7:40) and sounds similar to "Around The World" by Daft Punk . The vocals are mixed a bit low to the beat but still a good mix. "A Different Kind Of Love Song " recently topped the Billboard club charts while "The Music's No Good Without You " hit only #19. This is an excellent show of support for Cher as an artist that Warner Brothers decided to release this single to the public instead of most labels 12" vinyl only stance. Good job!

This is the best all-out fun, pop, dance song on the Living Proof CD. The gimmicks are abundant and lead to a vox box, electonica wonderland of eight rave worthy mixes. As a bonus you get two of the best re-mixes of The Music's No Good Without You , it's an awesome haunting mood piece of a dance classic.

I don't like Cher, i never did but when i heard the Rosabel mix i had to buy this CDS. Amazing club sound by Rosabel (Ralphi Rosario & Abel Aguilera). One of the best mixes from them. Ralphi's alternative mix is also great - great progressive and dark mix by Ralphi. Other tracks are nothing special - though i kinda liked the Murk mix. You just have to buy this CDS! Buy this for Rosabel!
Tracks: Rosabel Attitude Vocal Mix (8:56) Murk Main Mix (9:06) Ralphi Rosario Alternative Vox Mix (9:47) Rodney Jerkins Main Mix (Faster) (4:19) Johnny Rocks Mixshow Edit (5:58) Lenny B. Different Kind Of Club Mix (7:15) Craig J. Classic Love Mix (7:04) The Music's No Good Without You (Almighty 12" Mix) (8:04) The Music's No Good Without You (Walter Taieb Mix) (7:40)

Cher's Kind Of Love Song....,

Cher's 4th single ''A Different Kind Of Love Song'' is a great dance song, and it's here in it's vastly remixed form. Also including two bonus mixes of ''The Music's No Good Without You''.Best of the whole lot; is (Ralphis Alternative Vox), which got plays in more serious clubs as it is a heavily bounced house/trance stream-- also one of Ralphi Rosario's most flawless mixes ever!. Excellent! (Lenny Bs Different Kind Of Club Mix), is another heavily bounced mix, with a curving tune that works perfectly along with Cher's vocals. (Johnny Rocks Mix Show Edit), has a over-looping sound to it, the beats flow rapidly and take a turn for triggering the mix to climax. (Almighty 12 Inch Mix), This is the full and un-cut version, which is a heady version of the original, featuring a immense techno stream with a overflowing melody. (Rosabel Attitude Vocal), has a tribal touch to it with a speedy Drum 'N' Bass driving beat, only disappointment is that the mix doesn't feature the second chorus, overall it's a good mix. The other mixes are average sounding, but those above are in my opinion the best. For my money, a great CD-Single with remixes that will blow the roof off your dance floor!. Enjoy!

Catchy,

"A Different Kind of Love Song" was my favorite track from "Living Proof," so I was pleased to find a CD of mixes available. (By the way, the great radio edit version is not included on this CD, so you will also want "Living Proof" for that version. The other tracks on that CD are also recommended.)While I enjoyed all of the mixes, my favorites are tracks 4 through 7, where there is a chord change when the chorus begins. This mimics the radio edit, and I think it makes for more pleasurable listening. Of those tracks, the "Rodney Jerkins Main Mix" is my favorite. I'm less fond of "The Music's No Good Without You," but the two mixes included here are also enjoyable.

A disappointing kind of maxi single,

In a musical climate where commercial single releases are being slowly fazed out, it's lovely to see that all of Cher's US singles from 'Living Proof' have received a gorgeous release for fans to purchase. That said, this maxi single isn't quite up to the standards which the Cher camp have produced in the past.
This collection of dance mixes (seven for 'A Different Kind Of Love Song' and two for the underrated 'Music's No Good Without You') has its strong points and its let-downs. The Rodney Jerkins Mix of 'A Different Kind Of Love Song' is the obvious standout. Admittedly it took a little while to get used to the idea of Cher's vocals gliding over the top of stripped clean, stop-start R'n'B beats, but Jerkins injects his mix with enough tempo to give it the club-ready sheen Cher's recent songs call for. The only other 'ADKOLS' mix that deserves mentioning about is Craig J's Classic Love Mix which recalls Cher's seventies disco days. Although its potential is never fully reached, it's miles ahead of the other mixes. The other five mixes all sound the same with the ever-increasing use of tribal beats in almost every cut, rendering them rather lifeless. Almighty turn in a decent mix of 'The Music's No Good Without You' with a faster beat and more radio-friendly sound than the subtlety of the original track. The Walter Tieb Mix sounds amazing, its cyber-disco sound works a treat, but the lack of Cher vocals docks off a few stars. When we do hear her vocals, they are so far back in the mix it's hardly worth mentioning. It would have been nice to hear the incredible Warren Clarke Mix too, but for Cher audiophiles it can be found on the European 'Alive Again' single. This was a bit of a disappointing release from Cher whose maxi-singles are usually a joy. On the upside, the artwork is fantastic and worth the price of the CD alone. However, if you are a casual fan looking for a few mixes, the 'Believe', 'All Or Nothing / Dov'e L'Amore' and 'Song For The Lonely' maxi-singles are all recommended over this one.

Two hits for the price of one!,

First and foremost, BRAVO to Cher's label Warner Brothers for continuing to release singles when most other labels have abandoned them in their stupidity and greed. This is what a great release is all about: TWO BIG HITS for the price of one! The first hit, "A Different Kind of Love Song" is probably Cher's weakest song to be released as a single for quite some time. That being said, a weak Cher track still towers head and shoulders above the strongest songs of most. The second hit on this CD5 release, "The Music's No Good Without You" is a jaw dropping slice of genious that I would place in the same league as "Strong Enough" and "All or Nothing," but just below "Believe" (Xenomania Mix) and "A Song For The Lonely" (Almighty Mix). Upon closer inspection, I notice that "The Music's No Good..." is written and produced by her usual team of Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling (the same guys responsible for all of Cher's afforementioned hits... you may recognize them as METRO, their incredible remix alter-ego), while "A Different... Song" is written and produced by "newbies" J. Aberg and A. Hansson. This may explain my affinity toward "The Music's No Good..." That, and the fact that the Almighty team totally knocked it out of the park with their remix... AGAIN! The vocal affects remind me of those by the English techno group SI Futures ("We Are Not A Rock Band"). While the affects do little to spice up the bland SI Futures track, they fit this song by Cher to absolute perfection. I'm not sure why it seems EVERY Cher song these days is filtered in some way, but this mix is far too amazing (and quite different than her other songs) for me to dare suggest they change a single thing. Staring from the lyrics on down, this song is quite a trip. This is definitely a wonderful example of the diversity and creativity of both Cher and Metro. The second mix of "The Music's No Good..." is by Walter Taieb. The foundations are that of a fantastic disco stomper, but only one thing is missing: The vocals! They were buried beneath the track, thus rendering this mix nearly useless for all intent and purpose. As for the mixes of "A Different Kind of Love Song," I would give the nod to Johnny Rocks Mix Show Remix as my pick of the litter. This is the production crew known as Welcome that did such a nice job with Donna Summer's "I Will Go With You" back in 1999 (theirs would have been the best mix of that song had it not been for Hex Hector's breathtaking mastery of it). Their take on "A Different... Song" gives it a grand, celebratory sound that I think the lyrics would suggest. I wanted so desperately to endorse Craig J's Classic Love Mix as the best of this set, due to it's liberal use of keyboards and beautiful production, but alas, the keyboards just sound a bit too choppy and don't seem to fit the song as well as the magnificent drums of the Johnny Rocks Mix. A great mix nonetheless, and if you are a big David Morales or Frankie Knuckles fan, this will probably be your choice. Suprisingly, the Rodney Jerkins mix contained herein is also quite good. Perhaps because it was sped up a bit to fit the dance genre. I feel that it surpasses his remix of Britney Spears' "Oops, I Did It Again" as his best work to date. The Murk Main Mix is the remix of choice on the local radio mix show, and although it does have some merit (as do ALL of the mixes on this CD5), I've never been thoroughly impressed with it. When all is said and done, if you have a taste for top of the line, high class dance music, you will find this release to be delicious. I support this release with a full 5 stars!
