Inspirational and life-changing,
By
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
Debbie Alsdorf's "A Different Kind of Wild" is an inspiring non-fiction read. It is a boldly written book that offers life-changing challenges to women who desire to actively live in the Spirit. The author does this by introducing the concept of "living up", which is her ministry's focus.
"A Different Kind of Wild" is packed with pertinent scripture references and enlightening quotes. This book would be an ideal group read, as it is loaded with study questions at the end of each chapter and at the end of the book. These questions can lead to wonderful group discussion, or be used for personal reflection.

A blueprint for a better life,
By Cali Val (Livermore, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
Debbie's book, "A Different Kind of Wild," inspired me to deepen my relationship with God. It provides a wonderful, Biblical roadmap for confronting issues such as forgiveness, trusting God in crisis and choosing to live better, God's way. I highly recommend this book for personal study or to use in a women's small group. It challenges us to face where we are and be better each day. ---And Debbie's real-life, candid examples make the process authentic and enjoyable. I'm already reading the book for a second time because the content is so rich. I intend to use it in my personal life and also buy copies for my close friends, sister, mom and aunts. Not only is it a must-read, but it's a must-do. It's time for you to discover, as I did, if your faith is too tame. I challenge you to read this book and learn what it means to be WILD in God's eyes.

Get Wild!,
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
After reading "A Different Kind of Wild," you may find that your faith is just "too tame!" Debbie Alsdorf brings to light the critical parts of our faith life that are lacking and need more development. The book's message aims to deepen your faith and bring you back to the basics of faith in God.
Too often we become misguided by the daily grind and lose sight of God. Debbie Alsdorf reminds us to "yield ourselves daily to God, realize that we have to choose to set aside our own emotions and desires that are contrary to God's, and remember that we can't change our pasts, we can't change other people, and we can't always change our circumstances." But we're reminded that we CAN keep our eyes focused on Jesus and that makes all the difference. I can't say that I really learned anything "new" through this book, but it did cause me to self reflect and examine my faith in many situations I am facing. For that reason, this book is definitely worth the read. There is nothing more worthwhile and priceless than deepening your faith in God. The book was well organized and each chapter ended with "strategies" and "questions for reflection." I believe this book is PERFECT for your next women's Bible study or small group. I found it to be more helpful, insightful, and useful than any Beth Moore study I've done. Regardless of what you're struggling with at the moment, the message in this book will help deepen your faith to take you through whatever valley you will go through. Debbie Alsdorf invites you to pull out all the stops, dare to trust God, and get wild about Him!

Great Resource for WILD Women!,
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
This book is broken apart into 3 parts.
Part I - Developing: Growing Up Spiritually Part II - Daring: Living by a Different Standard Part III - Determinded: Finding Courage to Follow a New Path I really enjoyed this book. The Author moved me from Developing into Daring easily and then when I reached Part III, I was ready to be Determining. I found that each chapter was very well written and easy to read. I enjoyed the format of this book. At the end of each Chapter, Debbie Alsdorf recaps with the following headings: Look Up, Pray Up, Live Up. She also includes Questions for Reflection. Another nice feature of this book is that it includes the Study Guide. This makes this book attractive for group Bible Studies. It is nice to have all of the resourses you need in one book, that with your Bible completes the study. For the cost of the book you can't go wrong. As I did the study guide portion of this book I felt wholly included in Becoming a WILD Woman - WILD meaning Women In Lifelong Development. I truly feel that no matter where you are in your walk with the Lord that this book has important messages for us all to learn. I recommend this book to all women. I am blessed to have this book in my library.

A Different Kind of Wild by Debbie Alsdorf,
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
This book, while it does not have much that is earth shatteringly new, is still very good. We can all benefit from the wisdom and experiences of others, and Debbie Alsdorf has done a good job of including personal stories and observations to illustrate her points. A Different Kind of Wild deals with issues such as worry, forgiveness, fear and other situations that all of us will experience or have experienced.
I must admit that I am not the most devoted Bible reader. My mind wanders when I read the Bible and I have a difficult time applying what I am reading to my life. I tend to rely on books like A Different Kind of Wild to help me understand the Bible better. That is where this book is worth its weight in gold. The Bible verses are very helpful and really bring the points home. I read this book out of sequence, depending on what I wanted to read about at the time, which was probably not the best way to read the book because the author did at times refer back to something she said earlier, but I still got a lot out of reading it. Be sure to work through the `Wild Strategies' at the end of each chapter and the Study Guide at the back of the book. I highly recommend A Different Kind of Wild. It is a book I will keep nearby to refer to again.

WILD for God with a Vertical Focus-Great Book!,
By LifeVerse "Christine" (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
Women in Lifelong development, or WILD women, is the author's theme for this book. Debbie Alsdorf walks the reader through many phases of spiritual development and demonstrates opportunities for being WILD in faith. She offers resources to fight spiritual battles, such as losing a friend to cancer, dealing with physical limitations and staying focused in a battle with Satan. Excellent reading and thoughtful solutions in each chapter. At the end of the book is a Study Guide for each chapter. After finishing the book, I realigned my focus from horizontal thinking (world centered) to vertical thinking (God centered). I've learned to "Look Up" and seek opportunities to be WILD for God. Great book!

This author's best yet,
This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
I had barely finished reading "Deeper" by Debbie Alsdorf (which I loved) when I got the notice that she was releasing a new book. I just finished it (A Different Kind of Wild) and think it is her best yet. Debbie just has this way of expressing spiritual truths in a "non-churchy" way, yet not diluting the truth of God's Word nor His call on her life (or ours). I want to live as this kind of "wild woman" and appreciate this representation of how we can live an "abundant" life... living it on God's "wild side".

This review is from: Different Kind of Wild, A: Is Your Faith Too Tame? (Paperback)
I received a pre-release copy of Wild .This book, along with Alsdorf's first book, Deeper are practical, truth filled volumes that gently teach and show women how to live in the reality of God's love and what that looks like. It's life changing truth!
