Pretty decent tribute to one of the best bands of all time. Too bad there werent a few more popular bands but i guess it doesnt matter a few of these songs just sound too similar to the original version which is cool but im sure theyre were other bands who couldve done a better version. The songs/bands that stood out were the ones that did their own thing and made it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tribute Albums Never Work
They just don't. Anyway, this album is not very good at all. The production quality of it isn't good, and half these bands don't even have their own albums. There is good reason for this, a lot of these bands suck. Artists are allowed to take a certain amount of liberty when doing covers, but some of these go too far, especially when you don't seem to be signed to a...

Pretty decent tribute to one of the best bands of all time. Too bad there werent a few more popular bands but i guess it doesnt matter a few of these songs just sound too similar to the original version which is cool but im sure theyre were other bands who couldve done a better version. The songs/bands that stood out were the ones that did their own thing and made it sound awesome still. Inspection 12 and wirebox are both very good of incorporating other sounds/ instruments. When i come around in female voclas is pretty damn cool. Taking the fall did a great Redundant making me like that song even more now. B. Hayes is Dead do a hilarious All by myself. The sound is awesome listening to some of the older Lookout material you can definetly tell how much technology has changed in like 13 years or whatever. i heard there gonna remaster those old lookout! albums. I bet theyre gonna sound powerful now. Also give props to rudiger who did an awesome job on 2000 light years away and pensive did a cool and different job on Chritie road. Also I dont know what the big deal is about Weezer's cover it wasnt all that great. I've heard better. Rivers doesnt even sound like himself he sounds British or something. it's weird cause he says hug instead of f*ck. overall pretty good release. Not as good as the ramones tribute album but better than Nirvana's probably equal to Weezer's.

They just don't. Anyway, this album is not very good at all. The production quality of it isn't good, and half these bands don't even have their own albums. There is good reason for this, a lot of these bands suck. Artists are allowed to take a certain amount of liberty when doing covers, but some of these go too far, especially when you don't seem to be signed to a label.

One of these is "Macy's Day Parade". The original version of this song is acoustic and is about three and a half minutes long. The cover on here, in my opinion, makes a mockery of it. They may have tried to make it different in a good way, but it doesn't work. "She" goes along the same lines as this as well.

The cover of "J.A.R" sounds like New Found Glory, but way more nasaly(I know, I didn't think it was possible either). Then there is "FOD". Another when they tried to make it different but fail to make it good. "Redundant" sounds nothing like the original; during the verses, the singer sounds like Trent Reznor on "Hurt", especially the opening one. Plus they changed up the guitars in a wierd way.

"Minority" is missing the harmonica, and the singer isn't a good singer. However, they did get the music the closest. "Going to Pasalacqua" is just sad. "Christie Road" sounds like an even worse version of Hoobastank. And, Weezer, if you're going to do a cover, you can't just change the words. If you don't want to swear, then choose a different song.
And don't listen to whoever said Avril Lavigne did a good cover of "Basket Case".

2.0 out of 5 stars A Shade of Brown-Green, February 7, 2004
This review is from: Different Shade of Green: Trib. To Green Day (Audio CD)
This one really disappointed me. I brought this album because I am a huge Green Day fan, and I was interested in how other bands, including Weezer, imitated them. All I can say is that no one can cover these songs even half as well as the original. Weezer's version of Worry Rock was frightening, and the other bands were mediocre, at best. All in all, a total waste of money. No one can sing like Billie Joe.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST CD EVER!!!, June 28, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Different Shade of Green: Trib. To Green Day (Audio CD)
This Green Day day disc makes me wanna hearl! This cd should be only be 2 $dollarz. It stinks! The only decent song is Worry Rock by Weezer, and that song gets a 2 star from me. I listened to samples on ITunes and immediatley though it was the worst cd I had ever! Save your money for MUSIC!

1.0 out of 5 stars omg............., December 2, 2005
This review is from: Different Shade of Green: Trib. To Green Day (Audio CD)
Okay, I don't even own this album, from playing the PREVIEWS, I don't want it. All of these covers are horrible. I am an almost die-hard Green Day fan and I must say all of these covers suck. I won't buy this, I will never buy this and I hope next time someone tries to cover and awesome band thats been together for almost 16 years, make it sound at least 100x better.
