About the Author

L.K. Campbell started her writing career as a newspaper columnist for her hometown daily newspaper where she worked from 1986-2007. When she began writing fiction she wrote in the romance genre, because that was what she enjoyed reading. In 2000, she became the newspaper's composition supervisor. In 2007, she left the newspaper business behind and now does e-book formatting on a freelance basis for “indie” authors and for two publishers. She and her husband still live in their hometown, because they both enjoy the pace of small town living.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Historical With Real Romance November 7, 2007
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I was immediately attracted to the era Ms. Campbell was portraying in her story. Post World War II romance was something I'd never seen before. This story is beautiful and true to the time it depicts.
Cassie and Scott are real characters and their love story is told with a gentle touch that had me turning page after page. The relationship between Cassie and her mother was a source of both conflict and poignancy. I was extremely impressed with L.K. Campbell's ability to keep the characters true to the time period. She is a talented author with a new fan.
Don't be put off by the fact that this is self published. It is clear that this book was brilliantly crafted and given strict attention to detail.
I loved this book. If you're looking for a sweet romance, this is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet WWII romance December 27, 2009
By Shelley
A Different Tune is a wonderful story set in America during WWII. It's not a story about fighting, but rather a romance set back home in Florida where the effect of the war is felt and colors everyone's lives. Ms. Campbell plunks the reader into the time with the language, clothes and social mores. I fell in love along with Scott and Cassie and enjoyed the journey. It's a story for women of all ages. If you're looking for a feel good romance, I highly recommend A Different Tune.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacked plot June 28, 2014
By Wiwse
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This could have been a great book but it had very little plot. It was probably the story of many soldiers who wrote to girls and then came home, met, and married them. There was no character growth, plot twists, or anything to hold the reader's attention. I gave it two stars because I did appreciate that it wasn't full of gratuitous sex, but it wasn't full of much anything else, either.

The first thing I was ever paid to write was a weekly newspaper column called Scenes From Real Life. I wrote this column for my hometown newspaper for four years. I began writing fiction in my early twenties, choosing the romance genre because that was what I enjoyed reading.
From 1986-2007, I worked at my hometown, daily newspaper. In 2000, I became the paper's composition supervisor. In 2007, I left the newspaper and now do e-book formatting on a freelance basis for "indie" authors and for two publishers. My husband and I still live in our hometown, because we both enjoy the pace of small town living.
