5.0 out of 5 stars A truly excellent text in a reader-friendly style
I actually ENJOY reading this book. It's as concise as many other books on differential diagnosis, but the information isn't presented in list form or with bullet points (of course, there are some lists, but overall the book is almost conversational... like the transcript of an information-packed lecture by a doctor with lots of clinical experience). 2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book
If you want a book that really gives you differentials, buy Field guide to beside diagnosis instead. It is a lot less money and is soooooo much better.

Personally, I have a hard time remembering boring, dry lists; I need details to help me flesh out a medical picture in my head so I'll remember it well enough to apply its lessons when I see an actual patient.

I absolutely couldn't recommend this book more highly. It's jam-packed with clinical pearls and is immensely valuable as a virtual mentor. Reading it is like going on rounds with a physician who's been practicing for decades.

5.0 out of 5 stars Differential Diagnosis Common Complaints, November 10, 2006
This review is from: Differential Diagnosis Common Complaints (Paperback)
I totally love this book. It is very user friendly and has helped me tremendously in Nurse Practitioner school when doing case studies. It is organized by the symptom, not the disease, which makes it very nice and easy to use. It is simple, the reading is not too intense, and a good tool for practice/school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Book, September 13, 2007
This review is from: Differential Diagnosis Common Complaints (Paperback)
It's an excellent resource book to be used as a complement to other textbooks. Topics are discussed in a straight forward manner allowing the reader to focus just on the important aspects of a diagnosis. I will absolutly recommend this book.

This book is a must have for clinicals. It really helps you focus in on the key differential diagnoses for each complaint and helps you focus in on the key questions and exams to include to arrive at the right conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for nurse practitioner students, February 10, 2008
Information is well organized. I have found this to be a good supplement to my nurse practitioner text books. It puts diagnosing common complaints into a succinct and understandable process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be Aware, January 29, 2010

This book does not come with Online Student Consult even though it says it does on this Amazon page. I made Elsevier aware of this and they are taking action to correct this misinformation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good resource, May 23, 2011

I am currently in a Family Nurse Practitioner program and wished to have an additional resource to help me in developing differential diagnoses. I am pleased with my purchase. It was recommended to me by one of my instructors who had a previous edition and used it extensively.

4.0 out of 5 stars short, concise but a little confusing, February 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is an good review of symptoms, as it is fairly concise. However, it is confusing at times for each symptom, combining so much information. the charts are great, but sideways in the book, so you have to turn the book sideways & figure out how to hold it open to view the charts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Un buen libro, un pesimo comerciante // An excellent book, a terrible place to buy., March 2, 2009
I am preparing my Boards and, periodically use to review bibliography for. Unfortunately I bought this book with Amazon.com its delivery was delayed, they have the book in stock but I had to wait almost 3 week to receive it. By the way, independently of who is the retailer the book is of easy reading, understandable and concise. Those are its strengths. Its weakness is size and price.
