I used this product on the rear differential of a 1990 Ford F150 4x4.

I'll admit - I thought for sure I was wasting my money when I bought this. But since this product is cheaper than every other part you'd have to break to get the pin out anyway, I figured it was worth a shot.

It arrived promptly, and with instructions included. The included drill bit guide bolt threads right into the hole where the broken bolt head was, and the drill bit is thin enough and just flexible enough to allow drilling in such a tight space with a standard sized household electric drill. I followed the instructions, removing the bit periodically as stated to allow cuttings to be removed from the hole. I then used the included tapered-square extractor to bite into the broken piece of the pin that I drilled into, and to my surprise it actually caught it and I was able to thread it out.

This brilliant product saved me a tremendous amount of time, money, and headaches. I went from skeptic to fan of this product in the time it took to drill a 1/4" hole. I highly recommend you try this product before attempting to cut, grind, or smash your way to freeing the broken bolt!

I have a business working on classics and customs and have many years experience in the automotive repair field. I have seen numerous lock bolts break, but this is the first time I've thought about searching for a tool. It worked exactly as described and I had the broken pin out in 12-15 minutes. Only regret is I wish I'd thought of the idea! If you don't have one of these, what are you waiting on?

When I purchased this I was a bit skeptical, but figured it was worth a try. I, Like many other Ford owners had a broken diff bolt that I noticed while servicing the rear diff. I quickly went online to see how to remove the broken bolt, and this is what people were recommending, time and time again.

This product is easy to use and has clear directions. It does exactly what it says it does. Follow the directions and do not try any shortcuts and the bolt will be out in 5-10 minutes.

This product not only saved me time, but also hundreds of dollars in costly repairs at a mechanic.

This kit works perfectly on Ford and GM axles. It saves you a lot of frustration and problems. This set is rather large for Dana 35 axles and similar.

I had been told by a few people, including a shop that specializes in rear differentials, that I would spend at least a few HOURS getting the broken piece of the pinion shaft lock bolt out of the hole. I could not believe that someone had not created a means by which to quickly and somewhat easily extract said broken bolt, after all, everyone kept telling me it was common for these bolts to break. I looked and looked and finally found this item. I ordered it straight away. When I got it , I spent all of 3 minutes total extracting the broken bolt, and was back on the road again that day. Excellent product!

I have been dealing with this kind of problem off and on for 15 years and it is well worth the $30. Other option is swapping out the rear end and loosing the job. worked as described and no complaints.
