Dr. Jerry Sobieraj has been a well-respected expert in the health care industry for over 15 years. His diverse medical background and intellectual insight has garnered him a reputation as being one of the most knowledgeable and visionary physicians in the field today. Since his previous publications and research documents have been geared to mostly a medically trained audience, it was refreshing to finally read his first book for the benifit of the general public.

In A Difficult Time, Dr. Sobieraj not only explains the daily difficulties of dealing with insurance companies, drug companies, seemingly endless paperwork requirements, time constraints, and the balance of company profits verses patient care, he provides a compelling argument that the medical establishment is in dire need of fundamental changes. Dr. Sobieraj lays the groundwork for systems and programs that truly promote better health and fight disease - while keeping cost in control. Unfortunately, it has been an uphill battle. His encounters in trying to change the multi-billion dollar heath care industry in the United States have forced Dr. Sobieraj to completely reevaluate his career path. Dr. Sobieraj's book warns that if systematic inequities are not corrected more and more physicians will be leaving the medical field.

This book is a must read for anyone thinking about entering the health care field. For those not considering entering the field, I still highly recommend it. Readers gain a valuable insight into the current state-of-affairs of the medical profession and get a behind the scenes look at the business side of the medical industry. It's valuable information.
