Cool game. Great music!,

You are commanding a shuttle mission to divert an asteroid before it hits the earth--and this is years before Armageddon/Deep Impact! Once you stop the asteroid, you discover an ancient ship--and you've just hit the ignition. I found this to be a very pretty game, with some excellent voice-acting and fantastic orchestral music. Some of the puzzles were hard, but I felt a real sense of accomplishment when I finally solved them, and brought ancient technologies back to life--just call me Scotty!

I love this game,

I have read all of the reviews to date, and many of them complain about the graphics. When I got the Dig, it was the best graphics you could get at the time. Remember that it is an older game! The storyline is intruiging and some of the puzzles are extremely difficult. Some people have complained that the game is monotanous--but if you can zip right through it, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a thinking game? You play the character Boston Low, and must research and react with your crew members to get off of the alien planet you have landed on. I loved the dialgue, the storyline, the never-ending adventure game pockets, and I even have an affection for the graphics which some people have called corny and cartooney. I would hightly reccomend this game to anybody who is willing to take the time to finish the game without the cheatbook!

Another LucasArt masterpiece,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dig (CD-ROM)
When I first saw the front cover of the box, I wasn't very interested at all because the cover looks so unattractive. But as a Lucasart adventure game loyal fan, I decided to buy it.The graphic was okay but the puzzles were very hard dude! But I enjoyed it every moment even though my brain was about to explode hehehe.... I finished the game fair and square (no cheat). If you like puzzle-adventure type of game, then this is the right game for you.

As almost all LucasArts titles, this one is top. Perfect music, wonderful graphics (although 320x200) , overwhelming colors, and stunning voices. Recommended for the new and the old player.

Old but Good,

Other reviews have focused on the game dynamics, I want to foucs on the aesthetics of the game. This is a classic game, and as such it does not exactly compare well with state of the art games (in terms of graphics, anyway). However, the storyline is wonderful, and the scenery is very well drawn. What really stands out in my mind after all these years is the music. The music is a mix of classical, new age, and space. For instance, I'm pretty certian I heard Einojuhani Rautavaara's Cantus Arcticus in here.It is a game that takes patience to get through; lot's of thought involved. So if you want a relaxing yet challenging game, with a great ending, then this is a game for you. If you are looking for fast action then look elsewhere.

Very Cool,

What's these comments I hear about this not being cenamaticly paced?? come on, this is a puzzle game. I liked this because of the fact that you can't mess up & you can't die. Almost like myst in this regard, execept there you can mess up, but then the game stops. But, the puzzles aren't brain wrenching like myst. You just try different things until it works. Can't figure it out? let someone else play with it for a while. (that's how I figured out how to turn the power on.) I thought this had rather good voice acting as well. Very sci-fi, a little bit errie, and great graphics (at least at the time). I wouldn't know where it sits now on graphics since I played it when it came out.

For Some Fun,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dig (CD-ROM)
I'm not much of a game player, but after playing Myst, Riven, and Titanic, I wanted more. While The Dig cannot live up to the beautiful graphics of Myst and Riven, it is fun to play. At times the graphics were rather horrible, making it difficult to find a critical clue towards the end. Other than that, the puzzles were fun although not very challenging and the story was rather entertaining, although a bit corny. The game takes place on an alien planet...you've crash landed with your friends, forcing you to solve puzzles and make the right choices in order to get out of there. You have to look very closely at the details, because the clues can be easy to miss. A variety of different puzzle types and a few scenes are visually stunning, yet not on the scale of Myst or Riven. In short, if you just want something fun and relaxing, you'll like The Dig.

Great game!, Original, and thrilling.,
This review is from: The Dig (CD-ROM)
Well, I ended this game in 4 weeks playing on weekends only, I loved the music; and I recommend you the soundtrack also. This game requires a big imagination to solve the puzzles, and it took me right in Boston's shoes and I almost shared his mood.

I wrote a really long review, but it was deleted accidentally. All I want to say is that this game was so cornbally and lovable that I just had to play it. I loved it, but their are many personalities that this game would not suit. |
