Masterful Ambient Music, May 29, 2001
From the opening vibrato, The Dig is a journey you'll not soon forget.Composer Michael Land has woven a multi-level, ambient classical album that revolutionized music heard in video games. This music is consistent, never falling into the stentorian genre of classical. It remains even and solid through the whole album. Unfortuantely, this is one of the rarest cd's around. I myself have copy, but it is solely mp3's, and if given the chance, would snatch up this album, and buy copies for all my friends. Highly reccommended.

A Rare Gem! ... such good music is worth the search and wait, August 23, 2008
I was a big fan of the game THE DIG when it first came out. The game was such a hit and the musical soundtrack was orchestrated so well, that the makers of the game decided to release the soundtrack on CD. It was some of the most enchanting as well as relaxing music I had ever heard.
Several years ago I sat in a dentist office (a place in which I find myself very nervous), and fortunately I was allowed to bring this CD. It was very relaxing...so much so that even the dentist said it was putting him to sleep!
Yesterday morning I sat (or reclined) in the oral surgeon's office awaiting the removal of all four wisdom teeth. THE DIG once again proved its relaxing worth. No other music I know has that effect on me.
Eventually, as computer games do, it passed on into obscurity. Unfortunately, the soundtrack did too. But if you can ever find it at an affordable price, it's well worth it.

Absolutely amazing!, November 19, 2007
An amazing piece of work by legendary computer gaming musician Michael Land. This is by far and away his best work in my opinion. Being an avid listener to movie soundtracks (John Williams, Hans Zimmer, etc.), I can honestly say that this ranks up there with the best. The music from the game was a work of art in itself, however this soundtrack takes that music, cleans it up, and adds some more memorable moments to it. Unfortunately this is only 11 tracks long as opposed to the 30-some from the game, so obviously some things were cut out - but what was cut out however is made up for by the rest of the new music that was created for this soundtrack. Definitely worth picking up if you are a fan of the game, a fan of soundtracks, or just in the mood for some very atmospheric and well composed music. The perfect album to use for background music when falling asleep, studying, etc.
Highlights from this album are Mission to the Asteroid, The Ancient City, and Underwater Cavern.
