5.0 out of 5 stars BEST album EVER!!
Back in 93' I checked the album out, coincedentally, I experienced it on my first acid trip. It is an exotic atmospheric album of emotion and pure heaviness, a true standout. That's what happens when you have 4 talented guitarists and a good lead singer. The chemistry is beautiful. if Dig had had more promotion back in those grunge days i think they could've been really...

2.0 out of 5 stars I found this to be a dud
I used to have this album. I bought it when I returned to Philadelphia for my grandfather's funeral, so I guess I really didn't give it a good listen to the first time around. Now from sampling it I am disappointed. I only heard one song from these guys on the radio down here in Florida, and that was "Believe". It still has the edge after 16 years, but the rest of the...

Every song is good and I wish they'd get back to those dark enchanting sounds. I recommend it anyone who loves good rock, in the vein of smashing pumpkins, sonic youth, nirvana, alice in chains etc. to buy this fantastic album.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Album Should Of Been Huge., November 9, 2006
This review is from: Dig (Audio CD)
I bought the cassette tape after seeing Dig open up for the Posies back in 92' or 93'. Dig blew the Posies off the stage, and the album though obviously lacking the sonic assault of three guitar players held up just fine among all the other "grungie" outfits coming out at the time. There is a pop sensibility on the album, combined with a dark atmosphere throughout the tracks. "Believe" was the single, but I think there were some better tracks that might have made a bigger impact.

Now from sampling it I am disappointed. I only heard one song from these guys on the radio down here in Florida, and that was "Believe". It still has the edge after 16 years, but the rest of the album was a washout. I don't know if an acid trip would've made a difference, or not as I listened to this stone cold sober. "I'll Stay High" was pretty good, and there were a couple of others, but it just didn't have the right stuff to be a hit album. I guess with one of the songs being called "F**K You" they didn't care.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lost treasure, August 15, 2009

This album holds a special place in my heart. Not the best band or music but still a great album that was never really big (which I'm grateful for). A great listen every 2 years or so. Powerful guitars, punk / rock mix with very studio quality vocals. Green room is my favorite track. Sounds so mellow then kicks in heavy. I'd buy THAT FOR A DOLLAR!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not their best, May 7, 2003
This review is from: Dig (Audio CD)
Dig definitely has a great sound, and it comes through on a number of the tracks on this, their first album. However, they tend to have a few REALLY good songs, and then a bunch of others surrounding them (which are okay, but not great). I recommend getting Defenders of the Universe as it has fewer songs that you will want to skip over.

Saw them at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS circa '95. Incredible show. Not sure why they never became more popular. Hmmmm.

I've had this CD since high school (30 now), have bought hundreds of CDs over the years, and this is one that still hasn't been "retired" to my CD graveyard yet! Great sound - great songs. Any track could be released today and it'd sound like it just came out.

This album is old yeah, but it has more than one good song on it like the albums that you see now. Each song has good vocals and instruments but its gets kinda iffy at the end but with the whole 1st side great who realy cares. Its great surfing music and i realy like it and i think other people should check it out.
