About the Author

Sergey V. Kantsevoy, M.D., Ph.D., received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Gorky State Medical Institute in the former Soviet Union. He completed extensive training in the former Soviet Union and the United States, including an internship and residency in internal medicine at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he is now Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of Endoscopy Training and Certification. He specializes in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, and biliary and pancreatic manometry. His areas of research include pancreatic and biliary diseases, intestinal ischemia, and innovative endoscopic techniques such as cryotherapy and transgastric endoscopic surgery. He has published multiple scientific papers and presented research at numerous medical conventions in the former Soviet Union, Canada, and the United States.
