5.0 out of 5 stars Taking it back, April 16, 2006

This review is from: Diggin in the Archives 1 (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
Lil Sci, ID 4 Windz & Inspector willabee make up scienz of life. SOL are an extremely slept on group, originally from NY but moved to ATL and represent everything that is positive, truthful and real about one's self and hiphop. They dont talk about guns, or where they from, or what block they represent...they've stayed loci on the hiphop scence and Mc about what is essentially food for thought. Diggin in the archives is a compilation cd of all rare 12's, unreleased & even new tracks...from the group and it doesnt fail to disapoint. Even though it is a compilation of tracks it still passes as a great album. There are no weak tracks on this album except "Life Time" which is just in my opinion, and all of them are tracks that can be played somewher some time. From the jazzy, underrated production from ID 4 Windz to the typical New York battle type flow and lyrics from Lil Sci...to the occasional reggae-esque vocals provided by Inspec.Walabee there is definitely someway that the SOL can satisfy true hiphop lovers. The only thing that prevents me from giving this album 5 stars is the understandable not so brilliant quality on SOME of the songs. Although some may disagree with me here...and not dig this compilation...you cannot ignore the fact that SOL do what they do best and for some...that is exactly what this music needs. Lovin it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Nuwaubian Brothers reppin for my peoples!!!!, April 5, 2005

Rahubaat(greetings) as we say amongst each other in the nation, I'm glad I could be the first to rate this album!!!! I just wanna say that I listen to all types of music from Kitaro to Hamza El Din to Bloods and Crips to Wu-tang Clan etc. so it always trips me out when I see people diss artist in these rating forums you see you need negativity for positivity to exist and vice versa so in essence you gotta love commercial hip hop, gangsta rap, pop, punk, heavy metal, etc. to appreciate any form of conscience(positive) music, lovin the negative along with the postive that's the duality of human nature agreeable and disagreable(the yin and the yang), they made a song about that on they first album that is Supreme Balancement and that is truly the science of life and thats exactly the kind of science my brethren be droppin on they albums, representin for the United Nuwabian Nation of Moors!!! So now let me talk about this album I also own the other two albums and at first it they were a little hard to get into because the albums were real Jazzy and at the time I was and still is into the really dark and grimey hiphop like Gravediggaz, Sunz of Man, KillArmy, etc. you get the picture but after listening to them a few times it grew on me the lyrical content was not a problem and is what made me accept their jazzy feel in their music. Now as for this album it has a jazzy feel to it too but they suprised me with tracks like "Raw Scienz", "Underground Movement Forever", "Down by Law", SOL Live on the Strecth Armstrong and Bobbito Show(which is a freestyle that sure to make you bow down to their skillz), and 'Build wit me" feat. Baretta 9 of KillArmy. Now don't get it twisted this whole album is a banger from start to finish as are the first two albums these are just the tracks that really stood out to me. Oh and "Ms. Nuwaubian" is another definite jewel dedicated to our sistas that are on a whole nother level than most and we love em for that!!! The DvD is str8 too, it gives you an insight to their world, their influences, what kind of equipment they use, etc. So if you like listenin to Cats that be droppin Science you've definitely come to the right place!!!!! Cop this joint!!!! Wadu. Free POPS!!!!!!!!!
