Editorial Reviews

2010 two CD set, the first installment in the Disco Discharger series. Disco Discharge: Diggin Deeper features 20 full length club classics including five never before released on CD. Key tracks include the proto Disco 'I'm In Heaven' by Touch Of Class, the inspired instrumental of Mick Jackson's 'Weekend', The Ritchie Family's unique take on the easy listening standard 'Quiet Village' as well as the full length version of Dan Hartman's overlooked 'Countdown/This Is It.' Also included in this set are the sought after early '80s cuts 'Do Your Best' by Carol Hahn, 'The Voice Of Q' by Q and 'You Set Me On Fire' by 2wice. Traditional U.S. Disco is represented by The Trammps' 'Soul Searchin' Time', Constellation Orchestra's 'Dancing Angel' and Freddie James 'Get Up And Boogie' amongst others. If you dig the faster European style look no further than 'Love Attack' by Ferrara and the highly sought-after 'Savage Lover' by The Ring. Harmless.

This is my 3rd Disco Discharge purchase from Amazon. It is certainly an interesting product.Highlights are "Countdown/This Is It" by Dan Hartman, a 14 minute medley that is sheer joy, very anthemic, a natural follow up to his "Instant Replay" mega hit of '78. "Dancing Angel" by the Constellation Orchestra has the typical Boyce and Dillard sound, and is great..thumping piano, odd time changes and lots of drama. The Ring's "Savage Lover" is tremendous, its a weird song, but addictive, very hot."Somethings Up" by Wayne St John is a long, dramatic drawn out record that is just brilliant. I already owned "Never Gonna Say Goodbye" by Poussez but it is still a brilliant piece of disco gold."Soul Searching Time" by the Trammps is a soulful disco offering that just builds and builds, amazing stuff. "Weekend" is a let down.It sounds like an 80s remix and all the best bits of the original are left out.Similarly "Do Your Best" by Carol Hahn is a non disco item that never really gets going and has a melody I dont really like.Q is similar.I wish the compiler would stick to disco and not cuts from the early 80s. All in all though, it contains many excellent feet stomping disco moments and I would recommend it.Interesting liner notes too.

being an old school DJ from the mid to late 70's I've probably owned most of the records/vinyl on this CD. Keeping my records in the DJ booth was my first mistake, they wound up being scratched or stolen. Then moving around so much my records either got misplaced or left behind. These CD's bring all those memories back to life and I thank god that I came accross them here on Amazon. I have bought two of the "discharge" series and this one has been shipped to me for next week. All the songs I know except for a few but I'm sure those titles will come back to me when I play the first couple of notes. I'm so happy to see that "sing, sing, sing", "savage lover", "countdown", "weekend", "soul searchin" just to name a few are on this CD complete as a 12" not some short radio edit. I can't wait to boogie in the car with the windows open now that it is almost summertime. Kudo's Amazon!
