5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Fun and Created for 4-7 year olds! December 29, 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It is really difficult to find a satisfying DS game for my almost 5 year old and 6 year old. Even the age appropriate character games are usually too advanced for this age group. Most DS games require a lot of reading and they can only get through them with parental assistance. Skill level can also be too advanced on many DS games marketed for the younger ones. This game is smart - it does what I have been complaining about all along - it reads the text to them! How simple, yet how frustratingly absent this has been in many of my 6 year old's games. The games are challenging but not too difficult that they cannot get through them by themselves after a few tries. Both of them will really enjoy this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 5 year old daughter LOVED it! June 22, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My husband and I purchased this game for our 5 year old daughter over six months ago. It is EXTREMELY hard to find good, educational games. I'm not just looking to entertain my daughter but want her to take some type of knowledge away from her "game" time. This totally fit the bill! She could name all the dinosaurs by the end of the game. Even after she finished the game, she wanted to go back and redo the digs again. She enjoyed the different games, which have three different levels of difficulty to them. Completing the games gives you points to go and dig. I had to explain that to her, though. She didn't understand why she couldn't just go and uncover the bones. There isn't any reading involved. The narrator tells you everything you need to do. Your child just needs to listen, which I had to remind my daughter to do! I highly recommend this game. Even I cannot name all the dinosaurs! If you are interested in other educational games, Magic School Bus Oceans was phenomenal and so was Animal Genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 Year Old in Heaven. November 15, 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a nice game for little kids who like dinosaurs. It has a bunch of mini games and you need to earn "digging points" to get more dinos and games. So far my 6yr old boy loves this game. No reading required for game play. Easy to learn and grow in difficulty. I even want to play some of the mini games. Scholastic finally put this on the DS and it is cool. According to the masses "I am the coolest mom ever". Enough Said!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but easy to beat. January 20, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My six year old still likes the game but he beat the whole thing in the matter of a couple of days. We limit electronics time so he did this in a limited number of hours. If your child will keep playing it even after winning then fine but if not you might just want to borrow it from someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Digging for dinosaurs May 13, 2013

I bought this game for my 4 year old son. He absolutely loved it. I love how he can mainly navigate around and play the game by himself. He is learning the different species of the dinosaurs and I would recommend this game to any child who loves dinosaurs.

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased this game for my 4 year old(he turned 4 in Sept 2011) in October 2011 and he finished all the levels in the game in less than 2 days of non-continuous play. Although the game says recommended for kids from age 5, I think this game would be best suited for kids from 3.5 years old or even younger as they don't have to know how to read to play the game, the game is fully narrated and once kids are familiar with electronic gaming consoles like the DS, they can figure this game out.

2.0 out of 5 stars pretty basic December 31, 2013
Verified Purchase
This game got some great reviews so perhaps I was expecting more? The graphics are pretty awful even considering it is on the DS. There is some interesting facts and learning to the game but some of the game play proved to be a bit tricky and my five year old gave up on it after about fifteen minutes. I had to get him past the dino fighting part and then he played for awhile but the repetitive nature of the game made it become boring pretty quickly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game for dino lovers May 15, 2014

You get the feel of an actual dinosaur dig and get to choose locations around the world where you want to dig: kids can learn a bit of Geography and also Archaeology. What's not cool about that. I'm not sure younger kids will appreciate the value of persistence (continuous play) to win more chances to dig up stuff, but the whole process is a learning experience for them and the controls work pretty well without too much effort, which can be a problem with some DS games. I would probably consider buying this as an app for a tablet just to be able to have a larger screen size. It's not the most user-friendly game I have watched the kids in my family play, some will need a bit of guidance before they can do it on their own, but thankfully for me, I didn't have to plow through the manual to help them out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better
My son loves Dinosaurs so I thought this would be a great way to get some learning in while playing on his DS. It really doesn't keep his attention for to long.
