RP100A = good for the noodler,
By
This review is from: DigiTech RP100A Multi Effect Pedal
I play through a Fender Bassman (Jimi Hendrix vintage amp with no effects) and love the tone of the amp. Occasionally I like to "rock out" and do things other than jazz and blues. I don't want to spend $90 per pedal to get the individual effects I need to alter my tones.
The modeling on this little unit is great! I am in love with the "Hot Rod", "Tweed" and "Crunch" tones. Programing takes a little while for the discernable ear. It is especially difficult to nail the EQ if you enable the MIC/Placement option (which is cool but takes too long to figure out). The on board tuner is much better (quicker and more accurate) than the zoom products and better than earlier Digitech stuff (RP3). I especially like the spring reverb sounds and the ratary speaker effects. The "artist" prestets are 98% junk! Over comressed, over distorted, garbage. My barometer for a good distortion...Does it sound good while playing "Ain't talkin' 'bout Love" by Van Halen. You don't have to sound like Eddie but it shouldn't sound cheesy. This unit is fun...book some time to listen and program the sounds you want and it will sound GREAT!

ive had this little peddle for over a year, and it still works great! yeah, sure, there are some presets that are over distorted, but the point is to make youre own. Its got 80 presets, and 40 usere presets wich u can overwrite to make your own sound. It may be a little confusing at first, buts its a very good product. The presets go by 1-40U (user sets) then 1-40A and 1-40F. Its a great little box. its even got a headphone jack so you dont need to always use an amp. I highly suggest this product for any guitarist at any stage in their carrer.
