I just picked one of these up at a local Music-Go-Round store...traded in some old equipment I don't use at all anymore and got this pedal and a new cable on straight up trade (they were only asking $60 for it anyway). I am a recreational guitar player and have been for 15 years, but I also play lead in my church band. Before this my only effects were an analog distortion pedal and then my Line 6 Spider amp, and I've had both since I basically started playing at age 12. This pedal is a bargain anywhere around that value. It's well built, has a lot of effects, and easily customizable. After buying it, I spent about an hour messing with some sounds and had my entire song lineup with each specific sound I wanted for the Sunday morning songs programmed in to the first 8 memory banks. The 40 artist presets and 40 DigiTech presets were great to copy over to a memory bank spot and then build my own sound using the presets as a starting point. I was timid to buy at first, but now I'm so glad I did. Plus now all I have to do is tote this thing around in a bag instead of my amp.

The thing I like most is the pedal can be programmed to control any of the sound modulations (not just wah or volume) to get an easily customizable sound that you can modulate while playing.

I just recently started playing guitar and wanted to pick up a decent effects pedal. I decided to get an older high end model instead of a new low-end model.

You seem to get a lot more functionality in the older high end models than with the cheap stuff they sell. I got this for half the price of the new one...great deal.

I already had the RP155, which is also great, but wanted to start messing around with a wah pedal (which the RP155 does not have), so when I ran up on this RP200 at a pawn shop I grabbed it.

At this price level, you really can't do better than this. The pedal comes with a bunch of pre-set sounds that cover a wide range of awesome effect combinations that will allow you to play pretty much any song and sound kinda close to the original, and in some cases, practically dead on with the original. Of course, you can also create your own custom sounds, or sounds to match existing bands / songs / artists you want to cover. The drum accompaniment feature is something I personally love, and it has actually improved my own playing by uncovering places where I was rushing my picking (basically like a metronome) when I am practicing alone. Add to all that a wah pedal that you can use to ANY parameter (not just wah) like volume, for example. It will even let you plug your mp3 player (or phone) into it so you can play along with your favorite tunes.

If you have been playing with just a few effects, like distortion or chorus or whatever, or a combo amp that includes a few decent effects, the RP200 will absolutely blow you away. I mean ABSOLUTELY BLOW YOU AWAY. You will never play without it again once you plug it in for the first time. Anybody that gives a negative review is comparing this pedal to others that cost 10x more than this one, and even then this box holds its own in my humble opinion.

Add to all this the quality construction (practically indestructible) and you have a nice compact box that you can take to a gig without worrying that it might break or fail.

Spend a little extra for a better pedal. This model is not worth it!
