4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good articulating HDTV wall mount
This is a pretty good articulating wall mount for the price (I paid about $140 including shipping). You can buy a mount that looks better and moves around better and sits closer to the wall for $700.00 (plus or minus), and one that has conduits for cable management. This one works pretty well and I will find a way to hide/manage the cables. Nobody walks in and tells me...

First of all this is a good wall mount for the price. However, I did have some issues that I did not have with my more expensive downstairs wall mount. I hung a 52" Aquos and the arm immedately bent downward. So much that I had to remove the whole mount and turn it upside down. I did this so I could tilt the screen up instead of down. I've now achieved a flat viewing angle. Also, my television NOTICEABLY tilted to the left. I put some of the spare metal washers underneath the mounting hooks, leveled it and now it's straight. Again, for the price I don't mind doing a little extra work. But if I'd paid more money, I'd be quite upset.

This review is from: DigiTV Digital Plasma and LCD TV Articulating Arm Tilting Wall Mount. Universal Design for 34" to 56" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this item to mount my 50 in. Panasonic plasma. Having previously mounted a similar TV in my living room using a static mount bought on Amazon, I thought putting this thing up on the wall would present no real problems.

When the mount arrived, I was immediately struck by how poorly the instructions were written. They were obviously composed by someone who had a very poor grasp of the English language. In addition to the poor phrasing, the instructions are simply too sparse to be of much use to anyone unversed in how to install one of these mounts. Only very basic information is provided, and the diagrams are badly drawn. Strike one. That said, I had a resonably good idea of what I had to do, based on my previous attempt.

When I took the hardware out of the box, it struck me as poorly made. As a precaution, I decided to do a 'dry run', by attaching the brackets to the TV and making sure that everything lined up. That's where the fun really started.

The spacers (provided) that sit between the back of the TV and the brackets did not work with the Panasonic TV. The screws provided to attach the brackets (through the bracket, and the spacer, into the mounting holes on the TV) were not long enough. So the only option was to omit the spacers and attach the brackets directly to the TV. I'm not quite sure what the benefit of the spacers is, but I'm sure they are provided for a reason (perhaps to stop the brackets touching the TV and damaging the casing while moving the TV on the articulating arm). Strike two.

Finally, when attaching the actual mount to the brackets, it became apparent that the tilting mechanism had been assembled upside-down. In most mounting situations, that wouldn't be a problem. You could simply attach the mount to the wall upside-down (although doing so would make some the nuts and bolts more visible, which would otherwise not be the case). However, if you plan on mounting the TV in a corner, as was my situation, this doesn't work, because the positioning of the arm would be off, giving you insufficient room to hang the TV on the arm. Strike three.

Frustrated at the point, I contacted the seller to arrange a return, which they readily agreed to. They offered a replacement or a refund. I opted for the refund, but was disappointed to be told that they would still charge a 15% restocking fee. Apparently they apply this even to defective goods. And return shipping (at $29 for UPS Ground service) would be my responsibilty. So this little experiment with a low-cost mount will end up costing me $169, and I will be refunded $93.

Lesson learned. I'm off to a local retailer to see what I'm buying before I take another bath.

Nobody walks in and tells me I should have bought a better TV mount. In fact, they think this one is pretty cool. I can move the TV from left to right 180 degrees (with a 47" HDTV) even to the point that I can see it from another room.

I sent the unit I originally I received back to the seller for a replacement because the inner arm was very hard to move and it made crackling sounds. I hope the replacement works better (Seller paid for return shipping of the defective unit back to them and promised to pay for sending a replacement to me... have not received it yet). It was very hard to move the TV around on the original mount, but that is my only complaint so far. I hope the replacement does not have the same problem.

Finally, if you buy it, I think you should install the mount so that the vertical bolts have the nut on the bottom, not on the top (you'll know what I mean when you see it). I installed it with the bolts on top the first time, but I think I had it upside down because it works better with the bolts on the bottom. The directions didn't mention this, so they leave something to be desired.

I hope this information helps.

I purchased this TV mount after looking at many that cost almost as much as my TV. I took a chance since there were mixed reviews, but am glad I did. The directions were not very helpful, but it didn't take too much thought to figure it out. I do recommend tightening all of the nuts and bolts before putting it up (this does require taking some out to reach others and then putting it back together) it is much easier to do this on the ground than when it is all on the wall, and makes it much more solid. Also I bought a good stud-finder so I could be sure I put the screws in the center of the studs to make it hold securely. With the money I saved on the mount it wasn't bad to spend another $30 on a good stud-finder. I hung a 42" LCD TV and it looks great! I got everything mounted and then my boyfriend helped me to lift the TV up and hold it still while I tightened the other screws. I plan to use velcro to attach the cables to the mount arm so they are out of the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected, January 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DigiTV Digital Plasma and LCD TV Articulating Arm Tilting Wall Mount. Universal Design for 34" to 56" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
First the good points:

1. Very affordable
2. Comes with every types of skews to fit your TV
3. Works as expected

Then the not so good points:

1. The actual product received from 47th St photo looks different from the picture shown here.

2. The mount was sort of heavy but loose. It doesn't look like a good quality product (this is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5)

Last, the project:

1. 2 hours doing the measuring and planning

This mount requires two studs 16" apart. If you can find it, that's all you need

2. 1 hour doing the actual installation

The mount is heavy, so it's better done with two people. TV is a 42" Panasonic Plasma (about 60lbs). Not a problem at all.

Very nice item for the price. Instructions are minimal, but the mount is built and designed well. Holds our Sony 40" Bravia well. It will take at least two people to hang... and it helps for one to have some "handy-man" experience since instructions are.. not extensive, nor specific to that model.
One mistake we made is the center of the wall mount is NOT the center of where the TV sits. So measure accurately to take the off-set into account.

Very good product. East to install and heavy duty. The articulating arm works well and can be moved easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well for 52 in Samsung, March 9, 2008

This review is from: DigiTV Digital Plasma and LCD TV Articulating Arm Tilting Wall Mount. Universal Design for 34" to 56" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I wanted an articulating mount for no other reason than for ease of dealing with cables. The TV stays in one position and is only moved when cables need to be attached. That being said, this mount has worked wonderfully for such a large TV. The installation took less than an hour start to finish. It took two tries to mount the TV. We put the mount on the wall and left it the way that it came from the box. When we put the TV on it, the TV had a definite sideways lean to it. There are three attachment points on the wall plate for the articulating arm - right, left and center. Out of the box, the arm is attached to one of the side positions allowing for the maximum range of movement. To fix the lean issue we moved the arm to the center position then re-mounted the TV. It looks great now. Overall this is a pretty good mount - especially for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stable product for the price., December 18, 2007
This review is from: DigiTV Digital Plasma and LCD TV Articulating Arm Tilting Wall Mount. Universal Design for 34" to 56" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I used this one to mount my samsung 46 LCD (4661F) and it supports it pretty well. For the price, it performs pretty good.

If you plan on mounting it and setting it in a position and only move it occassionally, then this is a very good choice. If you plan on moving your TV quite a bit in different directions, tilting and in different lenghts, then this one is a little tough to do (maybe cause mine is new and would need to get used to or something).

The articulating movement seems to be a little tricky since I have the TV between two bridges of an TV stand and entertainment center (kinda gives in a "boxed-in yet floating" view.

For the weight of the TV (~60lbs), this one supports pretty good, but does come down on a weight a little bit. Easy to put it up, not bad instructions, if you have ever drilled a hole into the stud. Need two people to put it up.

Thanks...

I used this for a 46" Samsung LCD which weighed 59lbs. It was easy to install and holds my TV straight. The reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the one I received was Silver, not black like the one pictured. I saved over $200 buying this one. I mounted my tv in the corner of the room. Since the arm mounts swing in 3 different directions I was able to place it at the perfect angle.
