I bought this for my 4-year old despite some of the negative reviews because my son loves Legos so much. You would have thought it was Christmas again my son was so excited about his new CD player. Right out of the box, the CD player worked alright, although the sound was pretty terrible. Within two days, the CD player just quit reading any CDs. My son was very careful with it, so it didn't break from being banged around. Needless to say, I had to send it back, and now I have one very dissappointed 4-year old.

We purchased this CD player for my 3 1/2 year old son. He loves legos, he loves music, and this seemed like a perfect Christmas gift. Well, it does not work!!!!! Customer service is TERRIBLE. ALthough we had to wait two months to get it, they will not honor our wait time, and timed the LIMITED warranty from the date of purchase. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!! I am also going to write a bad review for digital blue, as well as contact LEGO to let them know that their name is being abused with this product.

I was looking to replace a Philips CD player that broke for my kids. I bought this one as it had good reviews and would look good in their room. I was definitely surprised by the quality of sound. No static like the one I replaced...clear sound. The buttons on the front are a little small and hard to see in low light. The play button could have been designed to stand out more. But it does its job well. I wish they made these things so they would shut off when the CD is done playing though...maybe they do, but not this one.

This broke within 5 months of purchase. It was not used daily and mostly just sat there looking pretty. Like other reviewers, the CD player just stopped reading CDs. Save your money and buy enough Legos to build a surround for a working CD player/alarm clock.

My son received this as a birthday gift and was so excited. Until we tried to use it. It played one CD in its entirety, then decided to never read another CD again. After hours of fiddling and fooling, and replacing with different CD's, I managed to get it to read a CD. But it wouldn't play, it would only "repeat." When I push the "repeat" button to get that function to stop, it decides to "shuffle." This is a total waste of money.

Nonetheless, we decided to just use it for the radio function. It is difficult at best to tune, almost impossible to move the dial so that you get the exact radio station you want. There is no "seek" or "scan" option to find radio stations, you have to tune it manually. I managed to find a station that my 3 year old would listen to, and after about 20 minutes, the radio station numbers disappeared from the display window view. I would say this CD player/radio has a host of electronic problems, and I can't wait to replace it with something else - maybe something not as cool-looking - but functional.

I loved this little radio/cd player and got it for my daughter from another site where it was cheaper. I'm very glad I didn't pay the price Amazon is asking because it only lasted 6 months before the CD player stopped working. The antennae broke right off the next day when I tried to use it as a radio instead. So, it's basically garbage now after only 6 months. :/

I have a 6 1/2 year old son who loves Lego as much as I do and I am very pleased with this item. It is perfect for a young child and simple for them to use - though the tuning of the radio channels does take patience. The sound quality was surprisingly great - we played classical, jazz, rock, etc... via the CD player and it did a great job. I can see why some people have received damaged CD player covers since it is a fragile part on the system - however, mine was received intact and as long as my son is gentle with opening and closing it, it should not be a problem - hence the 4 stars on durability. I rated the educational value of the toy as a 5 because I purchased books on audio CD for my son to go along with it. He enjoys listening to the books on CD while reading along with the actual book. While he plays in his room I put on music or an audio book for him to listen to in the background.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this Lego product.

Don't buy. It's a very poorly made product. When using the CD player it makes a set of horrible and loud sounds intermittently, regardless of the volume setting. If you want a CD player that actually plays decent quality audio, look elsewhere and save yourself the time, pain, and money of this product.
