This cheap Webcam (emphasis on cheap) worked on arrival, so that was worth at least 3 stars. The other reviews posted for this item are a bit confusing now that I have the Webcam in my possession.

*There is no IR, just 6 white LED's. Some people posted that the LED's come on by them selves or in low light, that is not the case there is a switch / slider on the USB cord that lets you increase or decrease the light intensity.

*The clamp works fine.

*The swivel head works fine.

*The focus ring on is pretty basic you unscrew or screw in the lens for focusing. It never gets very clear but you can tell when it is in focus.

As for the odd reviews that do not match this product, I can only assume that who ever is selling this thing or the manufacture has changed the product or has a few different versions.

For the price I paid for this thing I was impressed.

Bottom line: If you want a webcam that sort of has the ability to see at night and do not want to pay much, then this is your webcam. If you want great picture and video quality shell out some more cash and buy a more expensive model.

I purchased this camera from an electronics store while I was oversees. It works as advertised but avoid the crappy software that comes with it. Skype worked great with it, although the LEDs never really worked when they were supposed to. Bottom line, my friends and family were able to see me! I used a headset to talk as webcam mics tend to not work as well as I would hope.

I disagree with the comment about Vista. I bought the camera, hooked it right up to my ACER laptop (running Vista), loaded the software, and it worked right off the bat. It seemed to work fine, LEDs and all.

Just plug it into your PC (won't work on MAC), and tweak a few color and brightness settings...ready to go. It doesn't come with software, but I knew that ahead of time and I already had Windows Movie Maker anyway. Microphone could be better, so speak up a bit. Other than that, you can't find a better webcam for the price.

I know we are not paying much but still it should have some basic features. It is really hard to focus objects using its screw type view finder; it is not stable. Mounting it on a laptop is not easy and if you are using a laptop like a laptop (I mean if you move while using it), it will fall of every now and then. Image quality is worth the price we pay for it, so I do not have much complains on that front. Night mode is OK, but you are never sure when will the LEDs start glowing. I see exactly similar webcams in the market, but I guess all of them are manufactured at same place and sold under different brands. If you are looking for a good webcam that you would like to use for a long time, this is not the one. If you have short term plans of using it, well you can think of this. Most of the laptops come with Web cams that are far-far better than this one.

I bought this cam about a year ago. It has worked decently for me on any OS I have used it on, Linux, XP, and Vista. The IR leds only turn on when you turn off the lights, which makes sense to me as it is IR. The video quality itself is decent, there is minor blur in the actual feed, doesn't do well with motion though.
The real deal breaker for me was that the colors weren't accurate at all. Burgundy comes up as baby blue for example.

THis camera sucks if you have vista. It decides that the driver is a viris and it doesn't work. I hate it.

If it were possible I would have rated it a 0. This was being used as a secondary webcam to chat with family on my older PCs. I had a similar one bought from amazon (but a different buyer) which was performing great for the price I paid then! The earlier one was working for over 8 months and was being used daily without any issues to chat with family back home. Last month my daughter broke the webcam and I ordered this current one. Came promptly as with all amazon orders. Was also fairly easy to set up... just plugged it in and all three of my PCs (running XP, Vista and Windows 7 one each) recognized it instantly without any drivers. However, after the first use for about an hour, it started showing a green hue with thick lines in the transmission, and a half hour later, it just died..... nothing would revive it! Thought that the return process was not worth it and threw it away!

If you need a working webcam, avoid this product and pay a little more for a better one.

I bought this webcam called "nightvision" from Sunvalleytek for about $8--I believe SunvalleyTek is also the manufacturer. I liked it so much and the video was so clear and bright and sharp, even illuminated by just my laptop's screen, that I ordered another one. Unfortunately, this second webcam came from BargainCell. It looked identical to the first one I had bought, except it had 2 wires, one a USB connector and the other a microphone plug. The video image was horrible, dark and grainy even when using the LED lights. My recommendation is to buy this model from SunValleyTek instead of BargainCell. You will love the video, but hate the audio. I bought a separate little flexible mike ($3) to use in conjunction with the camera and that setup works great.
