Inconsistant to the ad, this hood does not fit to my Canon 18-55 mm lens that I use for Canon EOS XSi. Simply, I cannot attach this hood onto my lens. I believe the screw is not made for this lens.
DB Roth once shipped the item I ordered to a wrong place but I just thought it was a simple mistake. This time, I have emailed this problem and waiting more than 24 hours for their response.

I purchased this for the lens that came with my Canon T1i. Initially I was pleased as this fit well over the UV filter on lens. However, I was very disappointed to notice that when I fully zoomed out you could see the edges of the lens hood. I would not recommend purchasing if one has a UV filter they like keeping on their lens.

It did not fit the lens as advertised. Very disappointed, especially for the price paid.

I should have gotten the larger hood cover that fits to the outside of the lens.

This hood screws into the filter threads of your lens, great idea, but does not provide them on the hood itself leaving no place for the lens cap to attach correctly and securely. This product could be greatly improved by just placing additional filter threads to place the lens cap back on the lens while this hood is in use.

this piece of plastic is good not the brittle kind of material. a little hard to screw-in to thread on a filter as it keeps sliding but over-all it will serve its pupose by protecting your lens for bumps and keeping off that hash light.
the down side is that it is not reversible where u can just leave it on the lens if you're not using it.
this could have been better if i can be fitted - cap inwards.

This hood is really bad, it causes shades in the photograph especially when you zoom out. Really disappointed.

I got this for my Canon rebel xsi and it was tricky to get it to fit the stock lens. Threading it was difficult and using was a pain. When I would adjust it to prevent vignetting it would stick and move my whole lens. I recently dropped my camera (FML) and the lens hood hit the ground breaking off a few of those cheap threads. It's in the garbage now, I will get a better quality one as it was nice to have.

Watch out if you are buying a "tulip" shaped lens hood for the standard 18-55mm lens included with many Canon EOS DSLR's. I didn't stop to think that my front lens element and the filter/hood screw threads ROTATE while focusing. A tulip lens is designed to block reflection close to the edge of your frame without blocking the frame by virtue of it's notched design. If your front lens element rotates when focusing then the lens hood will rotate also and block the frame when the lens is set at a wider angle than about 28mm. Don't buy a tulip hood for a standard EOS 18-55mm lens.

It was hard to get on my lens and harder to get off. It showed shodowing on most pictures I took. It was awful.
