The CH-1800-AMX AA battery charger from Digital Concepts is a must for all digital camera buyers. This product will charge the included four AA rechargeable batteries over 1000 times saving you hundreds of dollars versus buying non-rechargeable batteries. This product is an overnight charger that charges in 8 to 12 hours. Just pop it in the wall the night before your trip and you're ready to go in the morning. This product does not feature automatic shut off so it should be removed from the wall outlet when it is done charging to preserve battery life. This product is also compatible with AAA batteries. In order to charge AAA batteries just flip down the tab on the charger and it now fits AAA batteries. Flip the tab back up to charge AA batteries. The included 2500 mah rated batteries meet or exceeds all manufacturers’ specifications. Do not buy this charger. The first one I got broke after one use. It took 3 calls to customer service to get a new one, which took almost 6 weeks to get to me, plus I had to pay for shipping to get the defective one back to them. The second one broke immediately as well. They will NOT offer a refund, only a third product of the same model. They even said "this is our most economical model, so you get what you pay for." Of course, I have to pay to ship the second defective one back as well. So after shipping of three items, I have more than paid for the cost of the item. I am not even shipping this one back - I am just going to eat the cost and buy from another company. To make matters worse, the average "hold time" for their 800 number is about 15 minutes. Then you get very unpleasant CSRs in New Jersey on the line with no compassion whatsoever.

Got this 2 days ago and instructions say 18-20 hrs for charging but they fail to tell you that it's not an automatic shut off..I forgot that I had plugged it in and I was lucky the batteries didn't explode...They were so hot that I could hardly hold them.....Not sure about the quality of the batteries but the charger is going in the trash; I have others.

Amazon should update the tech detials of this device b4 bringing this item in friday sales. The device that is shown in picture is different (model) than what Amazon is actually selling to its customers. The device is only compatible with AA type of batteries (cannot be used for AAA battery types) and comes with only 1 year warranty instead of 5 years mentioned in tech details. The charging time for batteries is upto 20 hours (2300-2500mah) depending upon the type (mAh)of rechargeable batteries used.

Despite all these facts I am rating this device 4 stars, because for a "Dirt Cheap" sale price of under $7 (with free shippping) you are getting a battery charger plus 4 AA type rechargeable batteries, with no separate adapter to carry on (wall mount).
