I bought this from target last night on 1/24/2011. It was $60, this is quite a pricey investment for me for a baby monitor. So I came home and went online to check the reviews. I told my wife, "Uh oh" we're going to need to return this. 7 bad reviews vs 1 good review. But I decided to turn it on and see if it would work. Voila, it's an awesome baby monitor. Digital clear audio transmission. I can use the intercom button to speak to my kids. Everything works wonderfully. Since I've only had this for 1 day, I'll write again if it happens to fail in the next couple of months.

Audio transmission: 9/10. (Volume is a bit low, doesn't go high enough for my taste.
Distance: Sorry not tested yet, but I was able to work on my car on the driveway while my baby slept inside. Temporary score of 8/10.
Ease of use: 8/10. Mine didn't come with instruction manual. But I figured everything out. I think this might be the reason why others couldn't get it to work. Without the instruction manual some people might not know how to turn on the child unit. There's a button on the bottom with the power on/off symbol.
Features: 10/10. It gives me more features than what I expect from a plain old baby monitor. Temperature reading is awesome. Night light is awesome (dual settings too, high and low.) Vibration don't think I'll use but nice to have around. Intercom was the feature that sold me to this product, very useful if you have older kids (3+ years old.)

OVERALL: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this baby monitor. Avoid $20 analog baby monitors, it will break in a year, and then you will have to buy another one. Do it right the first time, and buy a quality product that will last for years.

The monitor works great...when it's working, but most of the time we have a lot of trouble with it. Last night was the last straw: my husband and I were both asleep and I woke up suddenly realizing I hadn't heard our baby cry and it was way past feeding time. I looked at the monitor to make sure it was on and everything looked normal... the screen was on, it was reading the temperature, it said it had a signal...however I still got up to check on our baby just in case. Imagine my surprise when I walked out of our bedroom to realize that our baby was screaming! Both units were on, yet it wasn't picking up any noise from the nursery. I immediately lost all trust in this product! In addition to that scare, there are several other reasons I would not recommend this product: the battery does not stay charged very long (not even through the night), the screen does not light up so it is hard to see at night, I wish the flashing light on top was an option. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

We have a total of three baby monitors that we have tried. The others are just getting worn out so we decided to try new ones and saw these new monitors from Graco. Really cool features. Absolutely no reception. It's there for one second, like when you're right next to the base, but then once we walk out of the room it loses the signal. These were like $90 (we go the two receiver pack) at the red circle/bullseye store and our old $30 monitors work better. Too late to bring 'em back. Disappointed.

In all fairness - the first set we bought was defective. It vibrated no matter what (on/off, ac/battery). It had to be returned, but the features it had (digital, temp display, intercom, frequency/distance) combined with the fact that is so much less expensive then a similar product, I gave it another go. We have had this second one now for approx 4 months. Zero problems. The volume is more then enough for us, we usually only have it on 2 or 3 bars and can still hear our son just fine, any higher and you can hear the baby breathing. If it does drop out, which happens rarely, it beeps to let you know and 99% of the time picks up again without needing to be turned off and back on. I've never had to switch a channel on it - crystal clear. The battery lasts all day and then some, we always charge it at night so I don't know how long it lasts past that. I can clip this on and go outside with my older kids and it still has perfect reception. My daughter messes with the unit from time and time and its taken a spill a few times and it keeps on going. Our home is laid out so that our son is on the second floor, furtherest room down the hall, we're on the first floor and the complete opposite side of the house to boot - no reception failures. We bought this to replace a video monitor from Summer that we had, loved it but it couldn't come through without massive static with all the distance/walls, etc. I'm glad that I bought this before seeing so many negative reviews because I'd have gone with a monitor 3x the price (and be none the wiser for it I suppose!), I felt compelled to give our experience with it - for the money and features it can't be beat.

Do not buy this monitor -- it loses signal with no warning, defeating the entire purpose of having a monitor. It's supposed to beep to tell you when it has lost connection. Sometimes it will do that and then reconnect if you move it back in range. Other times it will look like it's connected (reads the temperature, says it has a signal), but it is dead silent. Several times it has done this to us in the middle of the night and I've woken up to hear my son screaming, with no noise coming from the monitor and no beeping to warn me that the signal was lost. Lately it has been doing it more and more often. After three nights in a row of the monitor losing its connection with no warning, I'm fed up and will be purchasing a Philips Avent DECT monitor.

Other CONS:
-- range is not 2000 ft (seems to me to be about 100/150 ft)
-- temperature reading is at least 2-3 degrees high
-- there is no backlighting for the parent unit, so it's impossible to see the parent unit screen in the middle of the night (to check the volume, connectivity, etc).
-- no option to turn off the noise lights at the top of parent unit. They are nice during the day if you want to turn the volume down and rely on the lights, but are very bright at night when trying to sleep.

If not for the random loss of connectivity with no warning, I could live with the cons, since it is a relatively inexpensive monitor which, when it works, has clear sound, easily picks up small noises from my son, and is loud enough that I can put it on the lowest volume and still wake up when he cries. But the loss of signal is a deal breaker for me.

We have had a hard time finding a monitor that will work as well as our first simple little Safety First monitor. It didn't have any bells and whistles, but it had great reception. We actually bought it for it's simplistic look and found it to be a good choice. It's no longer available. Since then, we've tried two others (Graco, Summer) and both have been terrible. This Graco monitor worked fine from our kitchen but terrible from our bedroom. It's not out of range and has the same amount of walls to go through, just in a different direction of the house. The sound will cut in/out often and it will beep as if it is out of range or the battery is low but that isn't the case. I didn't care for the intercom feature, but I wanted the temperature feature. It seemed to run a bit high compared to the Summer monitor so I'm not sure which one was correct. One feature that I needed was the light on the handset but that didn't work. Another aspect that drove me nuts (especially in the middle of the night) was the fact that any button you press (including the vibrate button) is accompanied by a "beep". I would prefer that that feature were optional. I don't need to be beeping the volume up and down while my husband is trying to sleep. That's just obnoxious. We ended up turning it off completely and hoping we'd wake to the sound of our baby crying in the morning. In other words, it completely failed us. NEXT....

We got this monitor as a gift at our shower and THOUGHT it was great! I loved that it would monitor the temperature of the baby's room and let me talk to him. About two weeks into using it I happened to wake up in the middle of the night and realize that my son hadn't woken up for his feeding. I opened our bedroom door and heard him screaming. I don't know how long he had been crying, but I felt horrible. I actually thought that I hadn't turned on the monitor (being so tired from being up at all hours of the night), so I checked that it was on when I went back to bed and realized that it wasn't. I put it out of my mind and everything seemed okay. A few weeks later in the middle of the night my daughter came into my room and said that her brother was screaming. Again, the monitor was off. This time I knew I had turned it on! It happpened once more and we decided that was it! Thank goodness our friends got us the protection plan and we returned it. We bought the Sony this time, but I'm sad to say I don't love that either. Not sure what to recommend other than NOT wasting your money on this. After reading the reviews I can see others had trouble with it shutting off as well. Some people say it would beep, but ours never did. NOT worth the money, and I felt terrible each time I woke up wondering how long my son had cried before someone heard him!

I purchased this in January, 2011 after moving to a new place. Our baby was then 7 months old and still waking up at least once during the night. We run a white noise machine in his room every night due to apartment living and wanting to block any noise from neighbors. The monitor picks up the white noise, which we don't mind, because it tells us it is working. However, we have noticed several times that the monitor has stopped working. It is supposed to beep to let you know that the connection has been dropped, but we have not heard the beep every time. We were woken the other night by our baby screaming at 6:30AM. Heaven knows how long he'd been crying for. It seems that what happens is that the monitor stops picking up the baby's sounds. We called Graco and they told us to return it and they'd refund our money.

Also, it is kind of ridiculous that there is no light on the parent unit, which means you can't see the screen at night. If you want to check how loud it is or check the temperature, you have to put a light on. I don't see the point of that. You'd think the least they could do is put backlight that works when you press any of the buttons.

We didn't really start using the monitor until after the baby was a year old, putting outside of any manufacture's warranty. We seldom by without looking up reviews, but I really wish we had.

Problem One - Monitor randomly loses connection and starts beeping. It can be reset by placing the parent unit near the sending unit (you know, next to the sleeping baby), turn off the sending unit and wait until the parent unit beeps, then turning on the sending unit again. Sometimes this will get you through the night if the baby doesn't wake up through all that.

Problem Two - Ironic that Graco advertises this with the phrase, "You want reassurance that baby is resting safe and sound." Yes, I do, and this monitor doesn't give it. It will seem to be working, showing temperature and some static, but my baby's wails from across the house are what wake me with nary a peep from the monitor.

If you own one, return it if you can! I am shopping for something else.

I wanted this monitor for it's intercom feature and long range. Unfortunately, it actually possesses neither. The range is terrible despite it being advertised at 2000 ft. It cuts out frequently in our modest size home. Also, the intercom is spotty at best. When it fails to connect it just beeps really loudly. So, I hit it to try to talk to my child in the middle of the night, only to have it beep loudly in my ear when it doesn't work. Also, the temp feature would be good if the display lit up. Who can read it in the dark of night without any light at all? When it loses reception it also beeps loudly. So, really I spend my time listening to it beep annoyingly and not perform as advertised. This is the 3rd one we had. First one wouldn't even get any reception, 2nd one cut out all the time and now the 3rd. This one is going back too for an exchange to another brand. It's too expensive to be this lame!
