5.0 out of 5 stars If you're standing at the jumpin' off place with PSE 5.0, YOU CAN DO IT!!!
This book was an impulse buy about three weeks ago. I took Renee's class "Doin' it Digi" at Big Picture Scrapbooking in April, but didn't do anything with PSE except organize my pictures afterwards. I was still interested, but very intimidated. Then, as I was getting ready to check out of Hobby Lobby, I saw the book and the author and I grabbed it.

2.0 out of 5 stars DD for Scrapbooking review
Text written in grey so it was hard to see. I have photoshop elements 7 and this book was based on PE 4 or so, so there were lots of long winded ways to do things that can now be easily done in PE 7. Easy to read but outdated now and limited in its content.

Her instructions are VERY VERY clear and easy to follow, and I was able to create a fantastic layout that will be in my family albums using only the things in one of her tutorials -- in less than 45 minutes -- while reading through the instructions for the first time -- and being interrupted by children.

This book was the lightning strike I needed, and I've now conquered that initial vertical learning curve of Photoshop. I now am capable of SO much with the program that every new thing I learn gets an "Oh, COOL" reaction from me instead of further intimidation. This book gave me the tools I needed to know that yes, I really CAN do this.

This is a wonderful book, just like the first one. As soon as I get my new version of Photoshop Elements 6.0 for the Mac I can work with it more. I've already taken a class with Renee and it was great. Her instructions are always very clear and concise, and the goodies on the CD are wonderful as well. They can be used in so many different ways and the embellishment that can be created on your own are endless! Well done Renee!

Considering I've been in Digital Scrapbooking for all of a week, and I've already learned how to make my own backgrounds and embelishments, that goes to show you that this book is amazing! Renee does such a great job of going step by step, it really makes it so wonderfully easy to follow. I definitely recommend this book to anyone getting started in Digital Scrapbooks. It's a great investment!

This book uses a specific software product to teach you digital scrapbooking in a hands on, step-by-step process. As a self-taught digi-scrapper, I can look at this book objectively and tell you that it is chock full of excellent information. This is a great book for beginners, while still having plenty of good information for experienced digi-scrappers.

This book is great for designer beginners with little working knowledge of Photoshop Elements. The instructions are very simple to follow and easy to remember when re-creating on your own. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested designing digital kits of your own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for the more advanced, March 11, 2010

This review is from: Digital Designs for Scrapbooking 2: Making Your Own (Simple Scrapbooks) (Spiral-bound)
I was delighted by the contents of this book! This is not a guide on how to digital scrapbook but rather a guide on how to create your own backgrounds and embellishments which is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to follow, presuming you have some prior experience with Adobe Elements, which the author is clear to note. The book also does a great job of showing you multiple variations so your imagination begins to run wild. If you are looking for a book to teach you the basics of making a digital scrapbook, this isn't the right one but the author has a first book which should cover those basics. Overall, very pleased with the price and purchase!

I love this book. It is very simple to understand, the author takes you step by step to many items to create for you digital scrapbooking elements. Once you have the basic concepts you can expand. I wish she would write a sequel or more advanced digital elements. She does have a web site and it has some tutorials on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource, December 28, 2008
This review is from: Digital Designs for Scrapbooking 2: Making Your Own (Simple Scrapbooks) (Spiral-bound)
This is a fantastic book. I had absolutely NO experience with Photoshop Elements or digital scrapbooking before opening this book, and I had no trouble following the "lessons". I now feel comfortable at a basic level not only with PSE, but also with creating digital scrapbook elements (papers, embellishments, brushes, effects). I can't wait to dive into all the other digital magazines I have. I was so impressed I found a used copy of her first digital scrapbooking book online and purchased it. Highly recommended for those interested in getting their feet wet with digital scrapbooking, especially creating their own elements. Also, fear not if you have a newer version of PSE than the 5.0 she works with in the book. I have PSE 7.0, and had little difficulty. There was only one button I could not find while going through the exercises, and I'm sure if I searched help, I could locate it if I wanted to.

I've been digi scrapping for about a year and learned tips the moment I opened this book. Some of the techniques are a bit more advanced than I need at the moment, but I'm sure I'll turn to them later. Renee Pearson's directions are easy to follow and much better than trying to follow an online tutorial as I (try to) work. I only wish I could find a copy of her first digital designs book. It's out of print and I can't locate it anywhere :(
