5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterwork for Digital Illustration!, October 23, 1999
By
This review is from: Digital Drawing: Print and Web Graphics Using FreeHand (Paperback)
Digital Drawing: Print & Web Graphics Using FreeHand written by David Bergsland, instructor at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute surpasses any book written on the subject. Not only is it a tutorial for FreeHand - the "hows" are explained in detail, but David goes beyond the "hows" and explains the "whys." Often designers create a design without having the knowledge that is necessary once their drawing goes to print. Many complications and added expense can occur because one is oblivious to what is necessary for the desired result. David accurately covers all aspects from the beginning of the process through to the end. Skill exams and miniskills throughout the chapters are excellent exercises for honing ones skills and are just another feature to help one become a competent artist. This book is comprehensive and a must for anyone at any level pursuing a career in digital illustration. David's expertise is brilliantly shared with all who read this masterwork; the wealth of information contained in these pages is priceless. Five stars is an understatement. Denise T. Daniels

5.0 out of 5 stars Digital Drawing: Print and Web Graphics Using FreeHand, June 29, 2001

This review is from: Digital Drawing: Print and Web Graphics Using FreeHand (Paperback)
Digital Drawing has to be one of the best FreeHand books that I have ever read. The author seems to focus on "Real-World" techniques that a designer needs to know in order to incorporate FreeHand into her workflow. Digital Drawing, rather than a tutorial based book that shows you the software, focuses on the functionality of its use and the advantages for efficient productivity. Fortuneately, I have had the oportunity study under David Bergsland which only accentuates the learning experience. I can hardly wait until the next book reaches the stands.

5.0 out of 5 stars The text is a precise indicator of how Freehand is used., October 19, 1999

This review is from: Digital Drawing: Print and Web Graphics Using FreeHand (Paperback)
David Bergsland, Business Graphics and Communications Instructor at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, clearly defines what medium Freehand 8.0 has a capable tool for Printing and Web Design. This text is bookmark in the industry where none is more clearly stated and shown with the use of the MacIntosh. David gives you the good points and limitations of the software by explaining how things work within the printing "realworld."

It is very well written and shows much experience within the book. This is a must for anyone who is interested in web-design, desktop publishing, printing. The price outweighs the amount of information that we all can learn from. Six Stars!
