Answering the question 'What is it that students really need to learn to function in the modern digital electronics field?', Kleitz's best-selling, full-color text on the fundamentals of digital electronics continues to stress the importance of analytical reasoning skills and basic digital design using industry-standard ICs. Guiding students through a clear, step-by-step progression of the practical skills they will need to design and troubleshoot digital circuitry on the job with the utmost efficiency and effectiveness, it continues to emphasize the basics of circuit design, so that students, confident in their knowledge of the foundational building blocks, can then teach themselves new technology as it appears. Backed by ample illustrations, numerous digital system design applications, and troubleshooting exercises, the Fifth Edition now becomes even more practical, offering hands-on Electronics Workbench exercises. *Electronics Workbench exercises-Provides 108 end-of-chapter problems that use Electronics Workbench software. - Presents students with a state-of-the-art, computer simulated method to practice building skills in designing and troubleshooting digital circuits. *Circuit operational notes . - Clarifies illustrations and provides students with quick insight into circuit operation. *EWB CD-ROM-Contains circuit files from the text. *Provides the student with 100+ circuits rendered in Electronics Workbench tied directly to the text. - Optional problem section at the end of every chapter asks the student to use EWB to reinforce concepts presented in the text. *Solid foundation in basic digital design-Features standard integrated circuits used in the industry today to demonstrate circuit operations, with a steady progression from fundamentals to more complicated topics. - Gives students a strong background for future studies in microprocessors and microcomputer interfacing, and empowers them with job skills they can apply to many branches of the computer and microprocessor-based system field. *Timing waveforms-Used extensively throughout the book. - Help students learn how to interpret waveforms when using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. *Skill-building problems-Offers a variety of problems: Schematic interpretation problems present "real-world" circuits and ICs in complete system schematic diagrams for interpretation; Design problems ask students to modify existing circuits and design original ones; Troubleshooting problems feature circuits to be diagnosed or to be tested for proper operation; Challenging problems require students to develop strategies and solve problems beyond the level of those used in examples. - Helps to develop and sharpen students analytical reasoning skills. *Over 200 marginal annotations. - Points out common misconceptions, team discussions and helpful hints for students. *Over 200 examples-With fully worked-out solutions. - Gives students numerous applications to real-world situations to help fortify their retention of material covered. *Cutting-edge technology-Includes coverage on Surface Mounted Devices, Low-Voltage (74LV) integrated circuits, and more. - Keeps students abreast of the newest developments being made in digital technology. *Full-color format/over 1,000 detailed illustrations. - Maximizes visual appeal and enhances students ability to grasp key concepts throughout the course.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Digital electronics is still a rocket science to me. When I was in my aviation college, I studied this subject hard, but a "B" was the best I could pull out of the course. Those who got "A"s were naturally-smart kind of people.

If you try to read this book and start to feel nauseating, you're normal.
