My 50" Widescreen 1080i Rear Projection Television finally bit the dust. Since I recently purchased an LCD T.V. for another room, it was not an option to purchase another one here. I did a lot of research into projectors and decided to give this one a try. I found video's of this unit being played online as well as numerous reviews. The price is what caught my eye initially. After doing the research on some of the higher end models I could see that the replacement bulb on those models were extremely expensive. The great thing with this unit is they include one extra bulb. Additional bulbs are inexpensive compared to others. Also included are all the cables needed for hook up including an HDMI one. I thought with the extra bulb and all the cables needed it was a great overall value.
I had medium expectations on the quality as I was unsure on what to really expect. Out of the box I plugged in a standard DVD player and projected onto a white wall. The picture was amazing. I think 100" would be the maximum before getting too pixilated. I played around a bit between the 70"-80" range. I then put up a white sheet on the wall. The picture was much clearer, image sharper, and colors more vivid. I then decided to bite the bullet on a wall mounted projector screen. I purchased a 70"x70". Once I got it mounted it was night and day versus the white sheet on the wall. I hooked up my Blu-Ray player and now I was truly impressed.
The unit is used mostly for gaming purposes and those nights where you want the movie theater experience. To date I have not had any problems with the unit. I ended up buying a bracket and mounting it to the ceiling.
The only negative experience is the sound of the fans.

First things first. If you are just looking for a projector to show movies on/video games, this is not a bad option, especially considering the low price. This review will focus mostly on the things that you may want to know about the project. The projector quality is not bad (for a $200 project) when showing movies on a large wall. I've watched videos with approximately a 100" diagonal and videos do not look terrible. The projector comes with an 2' HDMI, Component Cable, VGA and S-Video cable.

A lot of people have already mentioned this regarding the aspect radio so I will just mention some of the other issues I ran into. At farther distances, text is pretty much unreadable even with HDMI cables so I would not recommend this for business presentations. The biggest issue that I have with the projector is the poor design of the inputs. The first thing I tried to do was hook up my Nintendo 64. The composite inputs on the projector sit flush into the plastic with a very small gap. This means that because (like several other products) the N64's cables have plastic around the ends, that does not fit into the projector. I had to cut/tear the plastic off around end of the cables to get them to fit.

The second input issue is the VGA input. It sits right next to a raised piece of plastic on the projector. So any VGA cable (including the one that comes with the projector) will not sit deep into the input because the plastic lets you only push it in so far (just far enough for it to work).

The projector fan is a little loud, but if you are watching a movie, it is nothing too disruptive. The projector speakers are fine (nothing to write home about). The projector does not have volume control beyond controlling it on the computer.

Buying this projector was one of the best deals I have ever gotten. High resolution even in a decent amount of light. 2000 lumens is the truth and keep in mind that is the same as a professional high quality projector. You can hook up cable television, rca component, and hdmi all at the same time. This is just like having an extremely light weight and mini big screen tv. I didnt expect this projector to be so advanced. Read every input just fine and even has a fast enough input speed to play all your video games. For this price you are buying a projector worth twice the amount. Also just as a plus I received it one day in advance of the earliest estimated delivery date. Another great thing is that it comes with every cable you need to go ahead and hook up all your electronics.

The picture on this item is BETTER than I had expected! I have also managed to hook this item up to everything in my house, I mean everything. The hd cable box, regular cable box (using a/v cables),Roku2 (Angry Birds; Netflix), X-box360 and Playstation2 and my laptop. There is also a S-video hookup (which I have not yet used.)

The picture is brilliant. We project it onto the white wall in my bedroom and onto a large white bedsheet against the living room curtain. We've all but given up the 36" lcd hdtv. This projector is bright enough to see during full daylight. I have closed all the curtains, shades and blocked as much sunlight as I could in my bedroom and I can still see the picture perfectly clearly (not as bright).

I can not stress enough to anyone out there who is looking for a good, cheap projector. This is the one you're looking for. I researched the price for replacement projector bulbs BEFORE I bought and was aware that online they run near $25. This came with an extra bulb BONUS!!!! ADVICE: Do not ignore. Get the optimum life from your projector bulbs. Allow this (ALL) projector fans to run it's course. When you're done using the projector, the fan WILL run for near 10 minutes. It is a bit loud. Just let it run it's course and cool itself the way it was designed. I went thru 3 of these expensive bulbs before my husband (who has infinite patience) suggested I let the fan run till it stops itself. I have been now using the same bulb for a solid month and a half and not burned a single bulb. I found out the hard way that the fan is an important part of the machines process and needs to be respected. Or you'll end up writing a bad review on a WONDERFUL product.
